I am not bringing much furniture as my new home is virtually furnished. However, will my garden hose attach to a tap in Ireland? Or should I not bother. Are the hose attachments the same or can I get an adapter?

My lawn mower is quite good and I shall need one. Better to bring or sell?

Is the lawn mower gas or electric?  If gas, you may run into restrictions on moving it unless thoroughly prepared.  If electric, are you coming from the UK or somewhere else?  If somewhere else, if corded, probably not.  If it uses a rechargeable battery, you should see if the manufacturer makes a charger suitable for connecting to power in Ireland.

I hadn't looked at garden hoses before, but it looks like the ones I could find for sale online were different enough that it probably isn't worth bringing.

Most US outdoor faucets are 5/8" thread.  It looks like both 12.5mm (1/2") and 19mm (3/4") are used in Ireland. Close enough to look the same.  Then most places seem to sell the hose and fitting not connected to each other, then you connect the fitting you need to match your taps/faucets and other items you are connecting.
