Hi everyone,

I wrote to several accountants yesterday, asking them if they verify the financial report required for immigrants who need to show they are self sufficient. I received an answer, and I'll update this thread with others as they reply. PM me for contact information.

I spoke with an accountant in Dublin. They have prepared these reports many times before, and have never had any of them refused. It is up to the immigrant, of course, to know that they meet the requirements. The firm certifies that the information is accurate.

The report costs €1200+vat, "because it is quite a lot of work." If you aren't in Ireland at the moment, they will work with you via email, then meet at their office once you're there, to pay and to receive the report.

Linda

This is very useful information. Thank you for your willingness to share your research with the group.

Just to clarify, this is as it relates to the Stamp 0 process, correct? Even if so, my guess would be that accountants such as the ones you contacted would provide a similar service for other category of immigrant visa.

Have you asked about the timeline? I'm sure they are aware you must produce such documentation in a timely manner.

Thanks again for sharing. Liam

Yes, this is for the Stamp 0 process, and yes he said a few things that indicated that they have helped immigrants in other situations.

As far as a timeline, we said we'd meet and receive the final report at the beginning of March when we'll be in Dublin. We expected that there would be back and forth by email in the next month. So I suppose the better your records are, the faster they can prepare the report.

Linda, I almost forgot to mention this blog post to you: Stamp 0 clarifications from a current applicant

There's some information in there about medical information that may interest you.

I would be careful and seek out a few clients of the accountant to make sure they do in fact have the success rate they noted. Did they tell you that all of their clients received a Stamp 0 approval or simply that the financial information was accepted by INIS? To my knowledge, all the accountant does is take your financial statements and certify that they are accurate. I recommend getting a few references.

To Linda (and anyone else seeking this service), I'd strongly recommend getting multiple quotes for the financial verification report. I have the name of one accountant who has charged a reader here €180 for this service. I don't know if that included VAT or not, but either way it is a long way from the €1200 mentioned in this post. Get in touch privately if you want the name.

Hi all,

My mom and I are hoping to move to Dingle June1 and apply for Stamp 0 status.  We believe we meet the requirements; however, most of our money is in American 401k accounts.  Does anyone know if that is acceptable to the INIS for income/savings verification purposes?  My  mom has social security and pension income, are those acceptable?  I have tax records showing alimony income, would that be acceptable?  We are only aiming to stay for a year and would not buy property, if that matters.

Finally, I'd like to consult with an Irish accountant firm familiar with this process.  Can anyone provide any names?

Liam, I couldn't figure out how to PM you to ask for the one you mentioned above.

Any input would be appreciated!

Hi kmrg2000, you might want to read this post on the site. I think it answers some of your questions regarding what qualifies as income. I'm not sure about the alimony, but my guess is yes. If you find out, can you update us here please?

I will PM you the name of the accountant  I got.

Liam

PS welcome to the site. It's great to have you here!

Yes, that's probably the most helpful post I've seen.  All the government websites are so vague :p.

We met with Dave O'Brien of Quintas in Cork last week, and everything went fine. I paid him €250 and it was worth it for the peace of mind and the quality of his work. If he does this work while you are in Ireland, then there will be VAT. Since we aren't living in Ireland yet, he didn't charge it.

dave.obrien@quintas.ie

I encourage others to contact him for a similar service.

I prepared a detailed pile of pdf'ed documents and sent them in an email a month ahead of time, with a detailed manifest for each attachment, so I made his work easy for him. When we met he had already drafted the letter, and just had a few questions for us. I had brought my laptop with me, so was able to make a few changes he needed, and to email him an additional document he needed.

I built a spreadsheet that shows my income and outgo, and calculates two columns in dollars and euro, with a little calculator that lets you change the exchange rate and recalculate the euro column. I have made this spreadsheet available to my pals here on the Ireland Move Club. Click here.  Anyone with that link should be able to view and download the spreadsheet.
