Hello, an update about my stamp 0 application, just received an approval by email and the offer letter will be sent to Canada.

Make sure to follow up.  I submitted all documents in October 2018, received ref no. after 2 weeks, then no more news.  I email to them in March 2019.  At that time, they seems to remember my application suddenly.  They asked me the expected arrival date and leaving date.  Then, asked my Canada address for them to mail the letter.

No, I submitted the application from Canada.  No need to be in Ireland.

Rose, congratulations on your Stamp 0 approval! May I ask how long was the process and how strict were the requirements?  Did you work with an attorney or accountant that you would recommend?  I am still waiting for the rules to change before applying but these changes are apparently being held up until Ireland and the US can agree on a deal for Visa reciprocity.  Best of luck, Kevin

I did not use any accountant or attorney.  Everything was prepared by myself and mailed to INIS in Oct 2018.  I received the ref no. after 1 week.  However, I didn't hear anything until March 2019.  So, I email to them to follow up.  They seems to forget my application.  They asked when is my expected arrival date and leaving date, and then asked for my Canadian address for them to mail the approval letter.

Thanks Rose.  I heard that an accountant was required so that's good news you were able to get approved without the additional expense.  A few last questions.  Was INIS strict on the rules for income (net income of €50,000 per person) and cash reserve (€200,000)?  Are there any types of income they do not accept? I will not draw on my social security until I am 65 because of penalties for early withdrawal.  I wonder if INIS will accept future SS income which is guaranteed by the US. Sorry to ask so many questions but their rules do not provide this level of detail and I fear that I will not report everything correctly.

They need an accountant because their cash flow is not in Euro.

I think my case is a bit different.  I was working in Dublin 10 years ago and I have an Ulster bank account.  I have the balance over Euro 100,000 cash, plus I provided the previous year taxable income from Canada government statement.  Thus, I don't need an accountant to verify my income.

I think INIS is eager to see any cash is immediately available, not future income.  Based on the conversation with them, you have to indicate the expected arrival date and leaving date on the submission letter too.  The other documents are just based on their list.

As I understand, one should apply while in Ireland.  Can anyone tell me if the application must be submitted in person, or if it can be mailed from within the country?

@jaconaty1 , @rose mentioned above that she applied from Canada. This is the first time that I've ever heard that being possible. Maybe Rose can comment further. Also, if you'd like clarification from the dept of justice, you can reach them at unit2residencedivision@justice.ie. If you do, and they reply, can you update us please?
