The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade just launched a brand new website which will be of particular interest to any Irish people abroad who are looking to move back to Ireland. As part of the Global Irish website the Returning to Ireland section is a must-visit for those thinking about a life back 'home'. As an ex-emigrant of Ireland myself, I can honestly say I wish I had a resource like this available to me while planning my move back to Ireland. It is a great reference point to begin your research in to many things that will affect your move, and your new life in Ireland.

Focus is placed on a number of key topics related to moving to Ireland, including:

  • Jobs
  • Training
  • Social Welfare
  • Taxes
  • Starting a business
  • Getting a home
  • Retiring in Ireland
  • non-Irish spouse citizenship

Thank you to the folks at the DFA who kindly placed a link to the Ireland Move Club on their new site. The focus here at the Ireland Move Club is to provide practical moving advice to anyone hoping to move to Ireland, and to those who have recently moved here. It also gives you the opportunity to sign up and connect with other people who are facing similar issues related to moving as you are. See the About page for more info.
