Interesting that €50,000 Per Person Per annum is higher than the average salary in Ireland. Quite frankly Ireland is implementing much the same policies that the UK has over the last 15 or so years. My opinion from the outside is they are making immigration from outside the EEA harder to try and control numbers because they can't control the EEA numbers.
Average salary WAs gathered from this article:
... on the cost of living, which after reading the criteria does take into account some entertainment too - i.e. it is the "happy WAge"
Second question i have is that we have been looking out towards dunshaughlin/Ratoath area with my potential opportunity being in and around blanch. Research shows me that energy and services are more expensive (and sometimes unreliable) in the rural areas. Is this true? I envisage household shopping would take place in blanch and I would rely on public transport to and from
The whole concept of cost of living is a real unknow ...
@dalesimmons i thought Stamp 0 WAs 50k Per Person (100k combined). i am relocating with my 12 year old daughter and the attorney said i still had to show the 100k for the two of us even though she is a minor
I understand the independent means requirement that each Person (my wife and I) must have a passive source of income to the amount of 50K Euros Per year. However, I have recently been told that each one of us must have a lump sum of cash equal to the average price of a house in Ireland (250k euros). I had previously been told that we would meet the lump sum requirement if we jointly owned a house worth 250k Euros. does anyone have any experience on this issue? Any advice greatly appreciated as we cannot meet the requirement if we both have to have $250K Euro cash/house availability.
Hi! Any advice on moving approximately 20 boxes of Personal effects? USPS will be around $100 Per box. Need to know how to fill out US postal form so as not to pay Irish import taxes too. Thank you, mary pat
There's only really a handful of options. Irish life, laya, VHI and one more I can't remember. I called corn market for a comparison and got the best offer from Irish life for my mum who recently moved over on a stamp 0. Her plan (benefit 500) costs about 75 euro Per month. immigration were satisfied with this plan when she sent in proof of private insurance after she arrived in Ireland.
Liam -
I thought I'd provide a copy of an email I received today about since it reflects the possible cost for assistance with preparing/confirming financial information for the Stamp 0 application. I know Quintas has been mentioned in previous posts, but thought I'd provide their reply since it's current, especially the fees and contact information.
I do have another request for service information and fees out to James O'Donovan of O’Donovan Lavin Accountants and will post any information that he provides.
I hope the following is helpful.
Thank you!
My name is Adam McCarthy and I work in the Quintas tax department with Dave O’Brien. In order to prepare a financial verification pack we require the following documentation:
Evidence of all finances available (i.e. last six months of bank statements, savings account statements, payslips, pension valuation, investment portfolios etc.) – This is to prove that you earn more than €50,000 Per annum. Scanned copies of these will suffice.
Evidence that you have access to a large sum of money to cover any major unforeseen expenses (typically the cost of a dwelling in the state) – This can be in the form of a property valuation or an investment that can be easily liquidated (if it is an investment then we will need confirmation that you have immediate access to the funds)
Spreadsheet showing projected income in Ireland and expenditure on a monthly basis
2 photo ID and 2 documents showing proof of address (e.g. utility bill) notarized by a local official – the reason I need this is that we probably won’t meet in Person
If you are unsure about whether a particular source of income or funds is allowable just send us the documents and we can verify if it will qualify.
The standard fee for this is €500 and can be broken down as follows:
Request of information - €50
Review of documentation - €150
Review of Stamp 0 conditions to ensure qualification - €100
Letter of verification of income & finances available - €200
If however the work required is more extensive, then our fee will reflect this.
As you intend on moving to Ireland next year the financial verification would need to take place around the time you intend to apply for the Stamp 0 cert so there is no need rush with this process at present.
Should you have any questions in relation to any of the above please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Adam

... or bad insurance you're either going to be in debt for a very long time, or have to forgo treatment.
Having said that though the quality of care I and my family have received over the years is quite good. WAit times are short generally (again with decent insurance), and every type of specialty is adequately catered for. My experience is with CA city dwelling, so I'm sure people from rural areas or other states/cities, might experience different.
In Ireland I have found the quality of care to be quite good, and very affordable, but the availability is where ...
... a 12-hour journey across the Atlantic. I thus broke up travel plans, as follows:
Domestic: United Airlines charged $125 pet fee to book flight, nonstop, from SMF>EWR. Motel 6 offers pet-friendly lodging near EWR.
International: Delta booked my cat, in-cabin, and provided dimensions for pet carrier as required for the air CRAFT type. I returned to my reservations and found NOTHING about my cat, etc. When I called Delta, a note had been added to my reservation that NO IN-CABIN travel allowed for my cat. Cancelled entire reservation, with promise to write ...
Thanks Rose. I heard that an accountant WAs required so that's good news you were able to get approved without the additional expense. A few last questions. WAs INIS strict on the rules for income (net income of €50,000 Per Person) and cash reserve (€200,000)? Are there any types of income they do not accept? I will not draw on my social security until I am 65 because of penalties for early withdrawal. I wonder if INIS will accept future SS income which is guaranteed by the US. Sorry to ask so many questions but their rules do not provide this level of ...
