Cork, Limerick, Galway all have good options. It's cool you've given yourself so much time to plan. Do you hope to get over to visit a couple of times between now and then to scout out options? Hello, I am Liz and I am interested in learning more about remote working in Ireland. I have a particular skill Set that allows me to consult and do Skilled contract work. Interestingly, the fields/roles that I work in are also referenced 4 times in the “skilled workers” list. Has anyone on the forum moved to Ireland under similar circumstances? My Wife and I will be moving to Ireland from Denver. The bedroom furniture in question WAs built here in Colorado,where the Humidity is around 10-15%. Hi Giles @manilala and welcome to the site! Great first question! I don't exactly have personal experience with this, as I rented directly from a relative, and did in fact pay cash as a deposit. But it WAs for an amount far less than you mentioned above. Speaking from knowledge of others who have been in your situation, I can safely say you could run into any mix of requests for a deposit i.e bank transfer, cashiers cheque, cash, etc. The least safe is cash, and if you are asked to go that route, be sure to double check who you are handing money over to, ...

Hello, Preparing for our moving to Ireland in February. Just Set up an Irish bank account, and they mentioned we need to start building credit history, and that getting a car loan right away WAsn't likely. More like we'd need to build credit for a year or so before a car loan or mortgage would be possible. Anyone else have experience with that? Is it true? I'm wondering if my US credit history does any good, or if a car dealer will be willing to help you out if you give a good size downpayment. Thanks. Kevin

Thanks for the reply! I have read through that thread, Kelsey's info WAs just about invaluable. Nobody really mentioned the finance thing that I saw? so just needed to double check. Hopefully it hasn't changed, and won't change anytime soon! My move is planned for around a year from now, so just trying to work out what I need to Set in motion now.
