RE: Insurance for drivers without an Irish license

There is also Clements Worldwide Insurance that I hear is very reasonable. It's global, they have their headquarters in WAshington, DC, USA. It covers all over the world. There is also A UK Office , Lime Street, London. My husband and I intend to retire in Ireland in the never near future and dread having to take a theory Test, 12 expensive driving lessons and the road test, drive with a Novice sticker both front and back of car for a couple years . I guess we have to do what we have to do but don't much look forward to it at this Point. We are aware t ...

RE: How long do you have to wait to return to Ireland after staying 90 days on a tourist visa?

Tanya, I've searched for official info on this numerous times. I don't think it's public, any maybe there isn't even an official limit. From what I understand, each entry is judged case by case by the immigration person at the entry Point. They typically ask length of stay, purpose of visit, etc. If a passport shows numerous entries backed up against each other, maybe they will dig deeper into what a person is doing during their visits. This is one of those types of questions where I like to remind people that this site, and everything you read on here, is not an official/legal source. Just a forum where people help each other out with common questions 🙂 If you find anything, please let us know.

... I spoke with the registrar in Ireland and they assured me I just need a sworn affidavit signed by a solicitor confirming you are single and free to marry. So, that WAs easy enough. My biggest concern is now proof of address. As, I have none. But, I'm hoping to contact the American Embassy when I return and see if they have any suggestions.

RE: Question on Cats and Approved Airlines
Pets

Hey Nick, Fairly recently, there WAs a change to the rules for pet moves to Ireland. Until that Point, pet relocation companies were a requirement, and all pets had to go through Dublin. I've had confirmation from another mover on here, that that is no longer the case. However, if you arrive into Ireland as your first port of entry in to the EU, then you still need to go through the Lissenhall vet check in Dublin. Aer Lingus, have long been an approved carrier, but generally it's down to the individual airlines whether they will transport pets or not. Vari ...

... The part that seems to apply to you from the linked page is the following "If you currently have immigration permission to be in the State (Stamp 1, 2 or 3) and a valid in date GNIB card you may apply to change that immigration permission." Read the rest here Also, I recommend reading this info - the criteria which qualifies you for an immigration status change: They also Point out that if you apply for a status change, it does not affect the expiration date of your WHA. If that is coming up, then you may not have enough time, and would have to lea ...

Hello! My name is Kevin. My family (wife, 13 yr old son) and I are planning our emigration from the States to Ireland...I'm sure to have plenty of questions to post as our departure date draws near (right now it looks like early summer), but for now I'm busy 'shopping' for a shipper. We will have one full 20' container (FCL) to ship (and probably a follow-up container of less timely items once we're settled) from Long Beach to Dublin. I'm surprised to hear of the wide disparity in prices that we are quoted, and worried that some shippers are merely trying to get out business with an attractive quote. My only questions at this Point for The IMC : 1) Has anyone heard of / dealt with either Schumacher Cargo (based in Long Beach) or Inter Movers (based in New Jersey)? 2) Is there any shipping company that any IMC members would recommend? A shipper that stands head and shoulders above the rest for price and service? Any insights are appreciated. Thanks.

Posted by: Becky Liam, Could you Point me in the direction to where I can find information on getting private health insurance while visiting, for 5 months, in Ireland and Northern Ireland? I will be on US Medicare insurance when we are planning on coming over next summer but I know that Medicare will not cover me while in Northern Ireland and Ireland. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Becky Becky - Joanna just started a new topic along similar lines. I'll answer your question there.

... WAy to go. It isn't difficult, and you can save a ton of money! A while back, it WAs a requirement to use a pet service. THat's not the case anymore, so people need to explore their options. The one thing I'd caution about your crate comment, WAs that there are legal requirements that the airlines have to follow for that. The pet has to be able to stand up without touching the ceiling of the crate, turn around etc. You do not WAnt to show up at the airport with the wrong size crate, and get denied boarding. Also, those pet companies often offer you an a ...
