... and your suggestion of Mairead and Steve's posts. I already feel so grateful for what I've been able to find on this site! My fiancé, Neil, lives in Dublin now but is from Dungarvan, and we've been wondering the same thing about whether it would be better to register outside of Dublin if we can.... if anyone else has any insight into this, I'd love to hear it! @deleteduser Amanda, I'm so glad to hear everything went well for you and you were able to move and get married! Your response WAs definitely helpful. It's great to know about the PPS number takin ...

Hi Zara, Sounds like you have it all mapped out 🙂 Are you really going for the very first time though, and planning on moving soon after? What if you don't like it? What's making you WAnt to move when you've never been? Kildare is great horse country, and close to Dublin. I have no idea how you get Set up with a place for your horse etc though. There's plenty of other options too in close commuting range to Dublin. Welcome to the site. Liam

Alexander, Those guidelines/rules are Set by the Central Bank of Ireland, so you won't find a bank that won't look for proof of affordability. Sorry to say. It is quite strict. Liam

Hi there, We are moving back to Ireland in a few weeks after 11 years in the USA. I went to Set up international mail forwarding and realized its not as simple as on the opposite end (Ireland to USA). It seems USPS don't really do this!! Can anyone recommend a good mail forwarding service that doesn't cost an arm and leg? Thanks! ELaine

Problems finding a rental that will allow pets

@fionaz and anyone else having difficulty with this. I played around with Daft.ie today searching for rentals that will allow pets. If you go to their 'advanced search' option, you can choose that as one of your criteria in the search. As an example a search in Dublin city, with no other options Set, returned 65 results. Of course, other factors will limit your selection e.g. price, location etc, but at least it's a starting point.

@megmegu Hi Meg and family. Great to have you here 🙂 There's a Lucan in Dublin also. Maybe an option 🙂 Just an FYI for now, as I'm sure we'll converse more as time passes, but there are plenty of other great universities in Ireland outside Dublin. Cork, Limerick, Galway all have good options. It's cool you've given yourself so much time to plan. Do you hope to get over to visit a couple of times between now and then to scout out options? I'm sure schools too will have a bearing on where you end up. The irish school system is great, so your daughter will be well Set. Looking forward to hearing more from you and Shannon as things take shape.

... he's still in Portugal. We were going to apply for de facto preclearance but we were told we couldn't provide proof of cohabitation, as when I moved in with him he WAs already on the lease for long time and utilities were Set up already. I only have bank statements with the same address from May 2019... The only other evidence is invoices to my name and address. Any ideas on what alternatives would be accepted? Alternatively we're also considering stamp 0 but immigration agency told us it's very difficult to get and can take 6 months, even people with ...

I get this question all the time from readers and clients. Most recently while talking with one of my Let's Talk clients last week. Not too long ago (~2- 3 years or so) this WAsn't possible to do. Or at the very least it WAs really difficult. Now, Bank of Ireland do offer this service to overseas clients. It helps to get your account Set up ahead of time for so many reasons - think currency transfer! So what will you need to do: BOI require that you get in touch with them through one of a variety of WAys. You can get in touch via phone, Facetime, or even ...

Thanks for the WArm welcome Liam !! Yes I believe I will be apologising for Brexit and being English to every new person I meet in Ireland for a long time... Regarding banking, it's pretty limited being non-resident so I think either a standing order or cash is probably my best bet. I don't believe KBC have any branches (they call them 'hubs') where I can withdraw cash from a teller, so am restricted to ATMs and no WAy of getting a cashiers cheque. Does anyone know if landlords typically ask for the deposit and a months rent up front, or is it lets say 20 ...

If I WAs the UK government, I would put in a simple reciprocal trade policy with the EU. UK tariffs on EU goods would match those Set by the EU on UK goods. Then if the EU WAnts to follow the German Finance members comments about punishing the UK, they would get to hear from their own businessmen selling products to the UK.
