... dogs. We have looked at WAles but Ireland seems more affordable and more relaxing . Our only reservation is the heath service in Ireland , we are both active but have ongoing illnesses that need prescription drugs every month. I've tried to research how much this will cost but it all seems very confusing. We don't mind paying it's just trying to work out how much it will Set us back for medical insurance and paying for prescriptions. Apart from that I'm looking forward to returning to my roots my maternal grandfather came from Drogheda originally. Thank you ...

Hi All, I've lived in the US for 26 years. My family and I are moving back to Ireland sometime in September 2017. House is under contract "Sold", We'll miss it. Getting a 40ft container, A 20 footer wouldn't do it. $1,000 more by the WAy. I applied for my US Citizenship in December of 2016. I got my interview notice for the end of August 2017. I've seen questions about getting US citizenship before moving back. What are the Pro's and Con's? Should or shouldn't I will the timing work out for me anyway.? Starting to write my resignation letter for the Co ...

Alexander, Those guidelines/rules are Set by the Central Bank of Ireland, so you won't find a bank that won't look for proof of affordability. Sorry to say. It is quite strict. Liam

Hi Sinead, welcome to the site. I'm not overly familiar with the medical Set up in the UK, but I have a feeling that it may be better there than in Ireland for a person with a long term condition. Eligibility for a medical card in Ireland is based on your income level. They means test each application. Here's a quote taken directly from HSE.ie : "Medical card eligibility is based on an assessment of means. To qualify your weekly income must be below the income threshold. Any income, savings, investments and property (except for your own home) are taken into account in the means test." I'd suggest reading all the eligibility information at this link Liam

Hi there, We are moving back to Ireland in a few weeks after 11 years in the USA. I went to Set up international mail forwarding and realized its not as simple as on the opposite end (Ireland to USA). It seems USPS don't really do this!! Can anyone recommend a good mail forwarding service that doesn't cost an arm and leg? Thanks! ELaine

If I WAs the UK government, I would put in a simple reciprocal trade policy with the EU. UK tariffs on EU goods would match those Set by the EU on UK goods. Then if the EU WAnts to follow the German Finance members comments about punishing the UK, they would get to hear from their own businessmen selling products to the UK.

... Even though the official word is that the application can take up to 12 months, I believe that this won't be the case in general. I contacted the Department of Justice some months ago and this WAs the response: "Your husband is a non visa required national and can enter the State for up to 90 days at the discretion of the Immigration officer at the airport. He should inform the officer that he is relocating to reside here on a full time basis with you his Irish spouse. Both of you should attend your local Immigration office (if residing in Dublin you atten ...

Filing u.s taxes and covered ca

Depending on what type of Visa you are applying for you may need to keep health insurance. For reference of participants not in the US or California. Covered California is the HealthCare Exchange for California, and while I don't know their specific issues, I do know that there have been reports of limited number of doctors, and plans not matching what they were described as. If you don't file taxes you can be Barred from entering the US, have your Passport revoked, estimated taxes Set by IRS, and because of FATCA, FBAR, and some reciprocal agreements between countries there are collection options for the IRS even in Ireland.
