I'm delighted you added some comments, because I know you Have been giving this very thoughtful consideration, and Have been spending time in Ireland to get a good feel for what might be ahead. And I'm Happy to Hear you Had such a positive experience with the medical side of things in Ireland. Medical care in Ireland can get a really bad rap some times, so it's nice to Hear a good story. I would question that public transport is favourable in Ireland. If you're in and around Dublin City, then it's great. Plenty of buses, the Luas, and the DART are all great options. The rest of the country isn't as well served, especially rural areas, or town-to-town connections. It's not bad, but not as good as what I've experienced in other EU cities, but I guess their less-populated areas might be similarly served. Thanks again. Keep us updated on what's ahead for you...

The free pre school, is brilliant and works perfectly well. And now under 6s get free gp Health care. My employer also gives us free private insurance. Schools are also great Here. Hi Carol (@soju4321), the last time I WAs at the dentist in Ireland, I Had a similar experience to my US visits. I saw the dentist for a few mins, but a dental Hygienist took care of the rest. This WAs in a Cork City suburb. This WAs unexpected for me, and a first for sure. Maybe there's new courses/training available in Ireland now, which will see a rise in this profession? Can I ask what does GIS mean?

I would agree that 'malpractice' WAs a bit strong - I just meant in reference to the maternity failings that occurred. The cost of Healthcare is just absurd Here in the US - even with insurance, you are still paying a pretty penny out of pocket. It seems like WAit times can differ in Ireland depending on whether you Have private medical insurance or not? Even Here in the US, WAiting in A&E can take anywhere from 2+ Hours, depending on the day or time. In Maine, a lot of patients still Have to get transferred down to Boston for more specialty treatment ...

Having said that though the quality of care I and my family Have received over the years is quite good. WAit times are short generally (again with decent insurance), and every type of specialty is adequately catered for. Hi everyone, i Have read an article Here about How a family moved from michigan to ireland and decided to use pallet/ cargo instead of the 20 or 40 foot shipping containers. great article- but we Have too many items and must use - Hate to admit a 40 foot shipping container!!! i expect to live in ireland for a long time - so my whole world will be shipped over to county down area or county wexford- 2 totally different places i know... but so much rides on a school for my 16 year old daughter who needs a school that offers drama, choir and maybe dance, community theatre, classes for acting etc... this is why i ask about shipping containers, ports, quotes, and... i Have read that some areas, streets, towns may require permits & fees and some downtown City centre areas dont allow containers at all...because a container maynot be able to unload on the small and busy streets. all advice says to call and get lots of quotes- which i will do- but are their companies any of you Have dealt with that were wonderful or not so great?

... point would be a good option. Culture shock is a big deal for alot of people and sometimes it's better to jump into what the new country can Have to offer in an everyday WAy.
