I like this 'u crates' idea. Mostly because you pack it all in yourself, and everything in the crate is yours. My things were boxed up on pallets, and then thrown on a container with who knows what else.
Does the insurance cover the full cost of replacement, i.e. the value you're claiming? There must be some limit there.
Regarding timing, can they provide examples of that timeline? You may have read here or elsewhere of the multi-month WAit for personal belongings to show up. The goods could go through other EU ports first before arriv ...

I believe the Info here should answer your first question
Regarding you taking up employment, you would need to be eligible to do so, which most likely is not a given just because your wife will be. Unless of course you are an EU citizen.
Welcome to the site. I hope you find it useful.

how did he end up on a Stamp 3? Maybe going from one visa type to another is where the issue lies? I'll re-read some of the Info here
Thanks for the reply! I have read through that thread, Kelsey's Info WAs just about invaluable. Nobody really mentioned the finance thing that I saw? so just needed to double check. Hopefully it hasn't changed, and won't change anytime soon! My move is planned for around a year from now, so just trying to work out what I need to set in motion now. When the time comes I'll definitely update y'all with my process, gotta pay it forward!

Hello all,
I've read this forum for a while and found it very helpful, but only now found the need to post.
My partner (Australian) arrives in the country in 2 days, we marry on March 18th (I am Irish), and our plan WAs to go to our local immigration officer (Roscommon) shortly after to be stamped with a stamp 4 granted all documents are ok (we have them all ready to go).
I contacted the local immigration officer earlier today (and I have shared emails with him before), and he has said that since she will arrive in the country on a tourist basis initially ...
Hey Jordan
Welcome to the site 🙂
I worked in Ireland twice as a US-based employee so maybe I can offer some insight. There may be other WAys about doing this but here's a few notes on my experience.
The first time around, I actually gave up my permanent US role, and WAs then hired with an Irish based staffing firm who also had offices in the US. Between the US and Irish staffing folks, they figured out paying me and all the other employment details. That WAs something the company I worked for arranged for me.
The second time, I kept my permanent role, a ...
Good morning US folks & good afternoon Irish folks!
My wife and I decided that now is the time to make the move to Ireland. She is an Irish citizen (with dual citizenship, living in the US currently) and we just got done with a 2-month stay in Ireland that WAs absolutely incredible. It gave me the perspective I need to realize that the life we WAnt to live is easiest to do in Ireland and it's frankly not even a close comparison. With not having to pay $800/month in US health insurance costs + the children's allowance + cheaper rent for bigger homes ( ...
