Cold, wet months with kids...what to do?

... the beaches in Bray or Howth!) and geocaching (the geocaching app works worldwide). I've armed my kids with cameras and scrapbooks and plenty of arts and crafts and books, and that's helping. We honestly haven't had a shortage of things to do. Also sports! It's *all* new to my kids and they're loving it! We attended the women's rugby playoffs when we first arrived and it WAs great fun (and cheap, at UCD). I'd recommend giving them some guide books and sites to browse to give them some touristy things to look forward to (as Liam has also recommended ...

@moveclubadmin..Nope, Its not about any attraction I had 20 years ago....more of looking at it from the perspective of a better future for me and the family. Certainly not an easy choice to make..but one that has to be made at some Point in your life

... as Liam said, there are plenty of commuter towns around the city, some with access to public transportation so you may not even have to drive. The further out you go the cheaper it will get! If you go outside of Dublin you are more likely to get what you need for a better price. I worry about the weather in regards to my husband who WAs born and raised in California. He has spent some pretty horrible vacations during the winter in Ireland so he has an idea of what he is in for. Have you and the kids visited Ireland for long periods? You can start thinking ...

... he WAs about 8, that age where you're into summer sports, summer school and that age where you don't WAnt to leave your friends. He didn't go back till he WAs 17. And only his mom would go back every other year. I would agree with you regarding better chance at education in Ireland (not just the cost) and more opportunities in the state after graduating. In general, I feel you'll have more opportunities if you have dual citizen. Cfingan did bring up a good Point about Ireland growing their own tech bubble, main part why Irish economy is growing. That's ...

... You will feel down and you will at some Point feel like it is too difficult. You will forget the reasons you came to Ireland, when people start telling you negatively that you were mad for moving back. At the same time, we forgot all of the issues we had in the US with childcare, healthcare and the shabby unhealthy standard of living we had. My job in Ireland fell apart and the same day I WAs offered a job in the US. We had said once we were back in the US that we would surely end up back in Ireland and that next time we would do it properly. And we did! Li ...

Where are people doing their online shopping in Ireland?

I've been asked this one a few times, and it's a question that interests me too (mostly for cost saving opportunities)...where are you doing (or plan to do) your online shopping while in Ireland. In the US, Amazon.com WAs my go-to Point for almost anything. Baby stuff, electronics, toys, shoes, music, car parts...there's not much you can't buy there, and at a great price. I have not as much success with Amazon.co.uk. The selection is still unrivaled, but the price isn't as competitive. I've used Little Wood Ireland for a couple of electronic purchases (TV ...

So, because we can't seem to manage going ONE DAY without a hot mess, my husband had a minor car accident. He WAs in stopped rush hour traffic, in his lane, and a motorcycle weaving in and out of lanes hit him. Again, he WAs stopped. Garda arrives, the motorcyclist claims he has no memory of what happened. He is fine, mind you. The rear bumper of my screaming Japanese car is not. Tail light knocked out, as well. Garda took the report, everyone went on their WAy. Husband immediately phones our insurance. They instruct him it's up to the motorcyclist' ...

... in emails. All WAs picked up, shipped before we left, and then weeks later we get an email charging us $500 saying the country needed changed to Ireland and that it WAs being held in storage in Jersey until we paid the fee. My husband argued the Point and said "Is there even a Dublin UK in existence?" to which the account responded with a screen cap of a Dublin UK. We WAited 24 hours... really, exactly 23... and then received a DAY'S LATE FEE. For neglecting to pay it *immediately*. So we paid, followed up with a question of what to expect and when it ...
