... We would be leasing our current property in the states while running the BnB in Ireland for at the very least a good 10 years.
From what I've read so far I don't see any restrictions about buying property as a foreigner but I can't find info about using the property itself as a business and living there while doing so.
We are not of Irish decent, have no current family in Ireland. So why Ireland? For me it's been a childhood dream to visit and live in Ireland. I became infatuated with ireland through literature, music, poetry, Film and my short stint of ...
Hi Laura,
The stamp 0 rules state that you are not allowed to work while availing of that visa. Does that throw your plans completely out the Window?

Has anyone ever used the UPakWeShip company/service for a FCL?
Also, has anyone ever asked PODS whether a container/truck can be backed up to their WArehouse bay so a POD could be unloaded straight into a shipping container?
Because I'm packing my boxes myself, am I crazy to think I could save some money by hiring some movers to help me load the container myself and save some money that WAy? Although, because a 2-hour loading Window will go very quickly, I would imagine I would need a large group of muscle-laden fellows moving ...
Loading a container on the day is tough work. from what i hear you'll never hit that 2 hour Window, so will almost certainly be owing money. Plus, there'll be the stress of trying to do so. Don't some of those services allow for drop off and filling at your own pace?
P.S where do you find a large group of muscle-laden fellows? 🙂 Chippendales 🙂

... or immigration advice nor should it be solely relied upon for your own move, it's just a nice starting point for considerations to make if you are someone in a similar situation.
About me: - I had a job lined up before moving to Dublin. My work permit WAs applied for and approved while I WAs in the US. It WAs sponsored by my new employer.- I live a minimalist lifestyle. I did not need contents relocation (someone shows up, packs your stuff, puts it in a shipping container, and delivers to you in Ireland). I WAs moving via checked/excess luggage and mailing ...
Hi Lee Ann, welcome to the site 🙂
Yes, unfortunately it is a very arduous process bringing your pets along when you move. But what else can you do....
This part of the move is ever-changing. I've written quite a lot on the site about it over the years, and there have been many forum discussions too.
A lot of airlines won't transport your pet from Arizona at this time of year due to heat (and it may also depend on your pet's breed). For that reason alone, you may have to go somewhere cooler to fly, but explore all options.
I plan to call Aer Lingus on Monday for confirmation on your question. They used to be very explicit for a long time, that you had to use one particular pet mover - Pet Express, but that info is no longer on their website. Also, as of now, they do indicate you cannot fly from Hartford, LA, Newark or San Fran and not on Fridays and Saturdays (that's due to the pet inspector/vet in Dublin being unavailable on Sat/Sun.
What is the 10 day Window that you mention? I know there are timelines you must adhere to, but never had to meet a 10 day one. The full requirements can be found here if you need to double check what you need
Let's keep in touch on your question, and try to get an answer asap. I'll update as I find out more.
Best wishes,
Liam
AH got it! I probably just didn't pay attention since we would already have the jobs in place, so the 3 month Window didn't really apply.
Bit late for me to comment now but, Always exchange details of name address contact numbers and Insurance at the time of an incident where possible. Its easy with a car everything is sitting in the Window. Where a driver is uninsured and provided you have Comprehensive insurance your company should be dealing with getting your repairs done.
Hi there! We are in the (very drawn out) process of buying a house in the west of Ireland and were scheduled to move mid July. We were under the impression that to move our 2 dogs and 5 cats, we could book directly with Aer Lingus cargo. Is this possible? I have so many questions and hope someone can help as we have been ripping our hair out for months! Thanks in advance!
Do we still need to use a pet relocator? Is it still required by Ireland to bring pets into the country from the US?
Can we only fly pets via Aer Lingus Cargo from specific airports (JFK for example) or can we fly them from somewhere closer to us? We are in Arizona.
We already have all their shots, microchips and paperwork and the vet is on alert to get the health certificate within the 10-day Window prior to whenever we fly out. Additionally, we already have their airline approved carriers. Anything else? This has got to be the most confusing part about moving abroad! Help! 🙂
