@laneiger Thanks, Lori.
I WAs just concerned with any possible delays (due to Covid and previous lockdowns/restrictions) in getting the initial Stamp 0 approval. Sounds like you're response time from the INIS WAs less than 90 days but that WAs in 2019, so not sure what the timing is now post-Covid??? I suspect that timelines and timing with Gov't processes may be an unknown for now. As a result, my initial thought WAs to apply this summer with an anticipated move to Ireland in late Oct. I'll be selling my house here in U.S., so that is going to take some t ...
Hello Everyone!
I am new to the group and so happy to have found such a wonderful resource. I think there is so much power is sharing knowledge so I hope I can find some answers (or at very least) insight into my questions.
Here is a little background:
My husband and I have been WAnting to make the move to Ireland for many years now and have exhausted so many Different options. We have 2 children and are currently in Canada. My husband and I both work from home and can basically live anywhere. We are thinking now a Stamp 0 may be the easiest WAy and allow ...

This website WAlks you through everything you need to do, but basically your pet needs to be microchipped, receive a RABies vaccination post-microchipped and at least three months prior to arrival, needs a signed and certified EU health certificate no more than 10 days prior to arrival, and finally a tapeworm vaccination no more than five days prior to arrival.
Upon arrival, you will meet with an official at a time previously Set up by the Dept. of Agriculture who will deem whether your papers meet compliance paperwork.
Of course, ...
I don't understand why not Set up more offices to handle registration in Dublin.
So, I really don't know should I leave on 90th day after arrival.
Hello,
Preparing for our moving to Ireland in February. Just Set up an Irish bank account, and they mentioned we need to start building credit history, and that getting a car loan right away WAsn't likely. More like we'd need to build credit for a year or so before a car loan or mortgage would be possible.
Anyone else have experience with that? Is it true? I'm wondering if my US credit history does any good, or if a car dealer will be willing to help you out if you give a good size downpayment.
Thanks.
Kevin
Thanks for the reply! I have read through that thread, Kelsey's info WAs just about invaluable. Nobody really mentioned the finance thing that I saw? so just needed to double check. Hopefully it hasn't changed, and won't change anytime soon! My move is planned for around a year from now, so just trying to work out what I need to Set in motion now. When the time comes I'll definitely update y'all with my process, gotta pay it forward!
... and your suggestion of Mairead and Steve's posts. I already feel so grateful for what I've been able to find on this site!
My fiancé, Neil, lives in Dublin now but is from Dungarvan, and we've been wondering the same thing about whether it would be better to register outside of Dublin if we can.... if anyone else has any insight into this, I'd love to hear it!
@deleteduser Amanda, I'm so glad to hear everything went well for you and you were able to move and get married! Your response WAs definitely helpful. It's great to know about the PPS number takin ...
@megmegu Hi Meg and family. Great to have you here 🙂
There's a Lucan in Dublin also. Maybe an option 🙂
Just an FYI for now, as I'm sure we'll converse more as time passes, but there are plenty of other great universities in Ireland outside Dublin. Cork, Limerick, Galway all have good options.
It's cool you've given yourself so much time to plan. Do you hope to get over to visit a couple of times between now and then to scout out options? I'm sure schools too will have a bearing on where you end up. The irish school system is great, so your daughter will be well Set.
Looking forward to hearing more from you and Shannon as things take shape.
... he's still in Portugal. We were going to apply for de facto preclearance but we were told we couldn't provide proof of cohabitation, as when I moved in with him he WAs already on the lease for long time and utilities were Set up already. I only have bank statements with the same address from May 2019... The only other evidence is invoices to my name and address. Any ideas on what alternatives would be accepted?
Alternatively we're also considering stamp 0 but immigration agency told us it's very Difficult to get and can take 6 months, even people with ...
I get this question all the time from readers and clients. Most recently while talking with one of my Let's Talk clients last week.
Not too long ago (~2- 3 years or so) this WAsn't possible to do. Or at the very least it WAs really Difficult. Now, Bank of Ireland do offer this service to overseas clients. It helps to get your account Set up ahead of time for so many reasons - think currency transfer!
So what will you need to do:
BOI require that you get in touch with them through one of a variety of WAys. You can get in touch via phone, Facetime, or even ...
