Move to Ireland and work remotely for US company

I think what Kate is referring to is the Stamp 0 process, which does not entitle you to work while in Ireland, even remotely. It also restricts you from use of irish public services, which most likely would include school for your kids too. It's not intended for long term immigrants. For that you have to qualify for a visa. Is there an embassy near where you live that you could call or Drop in to? There's a good chance they'll refer you to the online material for visa applicants, but sometimes it's good to talk to someone. I know this does not sound very encouraging, but it is difficult to move to the EU with citizenship and/or sponsored employment.

... to provide us a contract and quote within 24 hours of our conversation, neither of which ever came. We never heard from him again. We could have contacted the company again, but decided against it. The amount we WAnted to ship WAs miniscule and WAs not worth the hassle, so we ended Up just checking extra baggage on our flight. We also shipped some packages through USPS in their international flat rate boxes, which we will never do again!! The boxes came and were practically falling apart. The Irish post had retaped them to keep the contents from falling ou ...

Basically just find a Tesco Store and pick Up a basic phone for about €10/20 then €15 credit gives 1000 minutes of Irish calls and texts and still leaves the €15 for making overseas calls @ 2cent or if you just buy the sim to Drop into an existing Android phone €5 gets 1 gig of data to use the phone as a satnav We have Samsung and LG phones and a basic Nocia for when guests come over. Modern phones are much of a muchness when it comes to reception.

... Having strong ties in both countries has made settling in one place hard for us. Just to touch on some of your points: re #1: I agree. CA is so expensive, and even though pay is far lower in Ireland, I always felt better off living in Ireland than in CA. There just seems to be higher bills, and more of them. Sounds like you don't have kids yet, but when you do, medical costs can rocket, which makes life even harder. Even with a good medical insurance plan, out-of-pocket costs are too high! re #2: I've seen discussions on this topic on other sites, and t ...

We've unfortunately found with our move that if something can go wrong, it will, lol! It's so tragic, it's almost hysterical. Immigration issues (understatement), home rental issues, schooling issues for the children (as non-EEA students garda insisted they *must* attend private schools and none were in our district), our family dog passed away last Friday, and my husband *just* had a car accident. We made this move for the sake of adventure, but I think I could do with a bit less adventure at this stage. Will be posting a blog Update once our pallets arrive and will detail how it played out. I'll be sure to Drop the link here at that time, in the event it proves useful to anyone else.

Good morning US folks & good afternoon Irish folks! My wife and I decided that now is the time to make the move to Ireland. She is an Irish citizen (with dual citizenship, living in the US currently) and we just got done with a 2-month stay in Ireland that WAs absolutely incredible. It gave me the perspective I need to realize that the life we WAnt to live is easiest to do in Ireland and it's frankly not even a close comparison. With not having to pay $800/month in US health insurance costs + the children's allowance + cheaper rent for bigger homes ( ...

... here: it states that "If you are a non visa required national who has entered the State legally within the last 90 days or if you are a visa required national and you are within the period of permission to remain granted to you on arrival in the State (except short stay ‘c’ visas):, or if you have current permission to remain in the State on an alternative basis both you and your Irish national spouse/civil partner should attend at your local Garda National Immigration Bureau Registration office" which fits his criteria so I don't understand why we had ...

... mementos, and papers from my research career at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I thought I might explain the process for others who are shipping belongings from the US to Ireland. We booked a 20' FCL (full container load) that WAs actually only about half full, with UpakWeShip. This WAs about half the price quoted by Careline. We hired movers on each end to load the container and to unload it, to save our backs. It is especially difficult to get things in and out of shipping containers because there is no ramp or lift gate on their tractor-trailers. T ...
