Laura. Hi. I have spent a lot of time looking at the Stamp 0 issue and agree that much is vague, Perhaps deliberately so as I think INIS prefers to look at Stamp 0 applications on a case-by-case basis.
Please note that emails sent to INIS Unit 2 have reportedly taken 2-3 months to receive a response.
In addition to the income requirement of €50,000 Per Person, please know that there is also a net worth requirement of approx. €150,000. Also, if you apply for a Stamp 0 and wish to use your US company income to support the €50,000 requirement, please know that I have heard that internet-related income may not qualify. Please be careful in describing this income with INIS.
More importantly, please read this draft policy statement issued by INIS in Sept. 2016 but never finalized. It includes a number of changes to existing policy - for better or worse - and may eventually become the final rules in the foreseeable future.
Hello, I'm Tanya, I'm looking to move to Ireland for 3 months, starting in September. My goal is to bring my work with me and live and work in Ireland during that time. I'm a copywriter, so all I need to work is an internet connection, my computer, and electricity. (I checked with the Irish Immigration department, I can live and work for myself in Ireland for 3 months, no longer. To stay longer, I'd have to be sponsored by an Irish company.)
My goal on this site is to find out how much utilities generally cost Per month, where I could rent a relatively inexpensive car for 3 months and anything else I need to know before I, my cat, and my harp come across the ocean. (Yes, I play the harp. Yes, I play Celtic music. Of course, I'm going to bring the harp.)
If anyone knows of an Irish company willing to sponsor a freelance copywriter for a year, I'd love to know about it, that would mean I could extend my stay. 🙂
Cheers and thanks.
yes, we did list those accounts as our assets. We included a page from the plan description that said that the money could be withdrawn. Per our immigration solicitor, we did not need to describe any withdrawal penalties, just that it WAs our money, and it could be withdrawn if needed.
Hi Mairead, and Happy New Year 🙂
Hopefully we get a few other responses, but in the meantime I dug into some of the previous topics and found the following:
David says he WAs quoted $5500 for a 20ft container here.
Teresa WAs given a quote of $7000 for 2/3 of a 40ft container here.
And, if it helps, I found you can store a 20ft container for approx 30euro Per month in Dublin. Details here.
There is also the Motor Tax.
As I recall somewhere around 3.0 liter engine and above it starts to shoot up quickly.
It is linked to a word document on this page -
Yep, there is a €100 jump between under 1.0L and 1.0-1.1L, then it is ~35-60 Per .1 L after that, then a €315 between 3.0 and above.
Here is a general overview of how the process should work Per the EU directives, and links on how to get assistance if there are issues.
I'm Peter, and I have just been accepted as a MSc student at NUI, Galway! I'm very excited to complete my education and liver overseas for the first time! However, a bit of reality is setting in as I look into the realities and logistics of the move.
By WAy of background, I'm a community college instructor and lab technician, in the specialized field of microscopy and biological imaging. I love what I do, but am a bit underemployed due to my lack of an advanced degree. It has been my plan for the last few years to put my house on the market, pay off my debt ...
My Irish fiancé and I have been together (long distance with multiple visits) for 3 years now. We are now planning to get married but we really WAnt to do it in the state of Colorado in the US during one of his visits.
Please forgive my ignorance but can we marry in the US while he is visiting and then go back to Ireland together and then go through everything we need to do there? Or is there something we need to do first in Ireland before we can do that? Are we allowed to marry in the US Per Irish law? Pretty sure American law states it’s ok as long as th ...
Hello,
Myself my wife and my 2 daughters would like to move over to Ireland from Leicester (UK). We need to WAit at least 3 years due to my youngest daughter finishing her education.
I have before marriage, lived and worked in Dublin during the 1990’s and as a family we visit Ireland regularly. We are ideally after living somewhere not in Dublin as we would prefer to live somewhere more rural.
I currently work as an Artworker/Project Manager for a Graphic Design Consultancy and have been doing so for over 22 years now at various companies. As I am in m ...

You will have to move over first to meet the criteria, even for Credit Unions these days. Its not a problem I still have a UK account registered at my Daughters that handles some standing order commitments there.
Check what your bank (UK) charges for ATM withdrawals in € and work the best WAy of sorting that. My Halifax account WAs great when it charged £0.50 Per transaction but it now charges a set fee + a % which makes it terrible for transfers.
You will also have to sort out the pension payments once you have opened an Irish account.
