Hi John,
Maybe the information in this new topic may help?
End to end hassle free shipping via ocean seems to be a myth.
Customs may choose to examine your good, or not. If they do, you'll be charged a fee for that too. The fee would amount to a portion of the Total fee for the container your items were in. Hope this helps @johnf
Hi David,
Not so sure about the need to rent for 6 months. I would definitely check all the banks before going down that route. Maybe one or 2 may be willing to lend to you if they look favourably on your financial history elsewhere in the EU. You might also WAnt to try a broker or 2 for that purpose.
You may be surprised with your number or responses, but in my own personal experience it's the norm. Estate agents are notoriously difficult to deal with and get hold of in Ireland. Honestly, my own experience with 3 or 4 of them WAs terrible. It shouldn't be ...
... and we are WAiting for our shipment 🙂
But, they are based in New Jersey and only handle international shipping. Their closest facility to us in Maine is in Boston, which is only 2 hours away. This is what their quote states as included in the cost - will come to your House and package your items appropriately, as well as log the items with you present, ship your items by truck down to their port facility in New Jersey where it will go on a shipping container, the container will be cleared through England before being sent over to Ireland where they arrange ...
hi! i am just back from 2 weeks in ireland with my husband. we looked into a few things for our move in between visiting everyone. i WAs wondering if anyone here bought a House to move to, or are you just renting? i learned that daft.ie doesn't have many rentals listed and that it really helps to know people and ask around. they seem to rent quick (in our village, anyway). we really WAnted to buy a House, but it seems renting for a year is just easier to do (that means moving twice). any suggestions?
also, we tried to open a bank account while we were there. ...
... use it while travelling for her.
I also WAnt to update that I spoke to both Accountant and Solicitor and I have been told the Total cost with everything would come around 1300 euro to get her here with all assistance and everything via them but I just couldn't find the need and I am now going ahead with Official docs and guidelines offered on the government website.
One of my friend who got the irish citizenship advised me to follow this as this is new website and updated very recently with all info. so I am just going ahead with my plans to collect ...

And the new permit (passport stamp and card) is for another year.
So there is no application by mail process with forms and a checklist of documents you have to send, like here in the States for Green card renewal applicants?
Sorry if this is obvious from you reply, it just seems too good to believe...
So we looking for advice, information on how moving to N. Ireland will, or not, affect our pensions . Also paying taxes, here in US and N. Ireland. Do we choose where to pay? My husband is a dual Irish/American citizen, I'm from N. Ireland with a Green Card. Not sure where to post this, just putting it out there.
Hello all - I WAnt to move back to Ireland from Switzerland. I haven't a clue how to go about it now with the multiple restrict1ons involved concerning Covid etc.etc.
Can anyone recommend a shipping company? I have about 3 cubic meters max. (boxes), travelling alone and looking for a small House to rent. My pension is about E. 1700. I can afford up to E. 800 monthly rent.
A House is difficult to find and if I book a flight, it could be canceled at short notice as in the past, undermining my chances to appear at any possible viewings.
I'd be so relieve ...
Absolutely. We are in the process of moving now. We purchased property in Tipperary Co., had to remove the existing House, get planning permission, and in the process of building a replacement House. Happy to do whatever.
