... I need to have has got me really intimidated. I WAs just wondering, if we got married in Canada (it’s a far more Simple process in Ontario...) would that marriage be recognized in Ireland and would I still be able to get permission to remain with my Irish spouse? Or am I better off going through these scary interviews (I read the possibility of a second interview) and hoping they don’t feel our intended marriage is just a marriage of convenience?
I worry a lot that they would not be satisfied with the length of our relationship/how often we’ve gone to vis ...
Hi,
my now wife who is a kiwi is here in Ireland on a working holiday visa(expires end of November). She has a work contract up to when her visa expires and she has the option to make this perm as soon as she gets her visa sorted.
I am an Irish Citizen from birth. We met in NZ 4 years ago and moved back to Ireland. We have lived together for 2.5 years.
We married in Denmark last week. Have our apostille marriage cert.
From what I've read, we just need to go to GNIB with passports, certs and proof of address?
Will she be granted stay with work permit from this meeting or do we have to go through an application and potentially see her lose her job post contract expiration or is it that as Simple as above?
Feeling slightly anxious about it. Advice appreciated. thanks.
... to give notice (you have to give 3 months notice in Ireland before the marriage date). We then had to have an interview as he is a non EU national. The lady in the office WAs very accommodating and booked us in just a week before our marriage date so we could ensure both of us would be in Ireland. We were interviewed separately, asked about our relationship, our families, jobs and plans for the future together etc. It WAs a little intimidating but they are essentially making a judgement that your relationship is real...so we passed!
We then were married on ...
Hello everyone!
My name is Nico, I'm from Uruguay. Me and my soon-to-be wife are planning to move to Ireland next year. She has dual citizenship (Uruguay/Spain).
We would like to apply for te EU1 Stamp4, so I can get residence and work permission as an EU spouse.
Our plans are Simple:
- At the airport, give the details to the immigration officer so I can get 90 days permission (I don't need a specific visa to visit the country).
- Look for a rental.
- Get our PPS numbers.
- Submit the application.
As both of us will be unemployed when we arrive to Ireland, we will apply as "Residing with sufficient resources", but we couldn't find anything about how much resources are sufficient. In case my wife get a job in the meantime, our plan is to update our application.
Should I start a new threads with all these concerns?
Thank you!!
Wow, I'd actually believed we encountered every roadblock possible during our stay here, but apparently we were lucky in this department.
Our experience WAs actually rather Simple - we purchased insurance with Aviva, a basic policy for the children and myself (as my husband WAs insured through uni). We were required to purchase private as my husband is here on a PhD visa. We brought our letter in and it WAsn't overly scrutinized and all WAs accepted. Our first six months meant pre-existing WAs not covered, BUT all other costs were, and that WAs enough fo ...
Hi everyone! I'm Irish, living in Canada. My fiance(Canadian) and I are getting married in Ireland in August and we're toying with the idea of not coming back to Canada and moving to Ireland permanently when we go for the wedding. I WAs curious about my fiance's options to be able to work asap. would this be the fastest route? In Simple terms when we arrive at the airport my fiance would declare his intent to stay permanently , he would then get a 90 day stamp in the airport, we would then visit our local garda station to hopefully get a stamp 4? I'm from ru ...
... cutting off your nose to spite your face. Retirees spend money, pay taxes, and do not take away jobs. Retirees do not qualify for any form of government assistance including health care. The real estate industry in Ireland, especially in the rural areas where many retirees WAnt to live, remains in recession. A few Simple and reasonable changes to immigration rules can go a long WAy to help Ireland continue its recovery.
Does anyone know of a non-EEA retiree who became a WArd of the Irish State? Are these new rules a solution in need of a problem?

-To be in a society with more progressive thinking and social policies. (I know Ireland still has some WAy to go!). We WAnt to get away from guns, conservatives, religious zealots, complicated and expensive healthcare, car-centric attitudes, oppressive heat and cockroaches/mosquitoes. If you hadn’t guessed by now, we’ve been living in the South!
-Healthcare is a big one for us, as we are dealing with some chronic health conditions. We had some experience with the health system in Ireland this p ...
Hi Zara,
Sounds like you have it all mapped out 🙂 Are you really going for the very first time though, and planning on moving soon after? What if you don't like it? What's making you WAnt to move when you've never been?
Kildare is great horse country, and close to Dublin. I have no idea how you get Set up with a place for your horse etc though. There's plenty of other options too in close commuting range to Dublin.
Welcome to the site.

Alexander,
Those guidelines/rules are Set by the Central Bank of Ireland, so you won't find a bank that won't look for proof of affordability. Sorry to say. It is quite strict.
