Hey! Thank you so much! That WAs very useful. I Didn't realize it before--but you're right. My GNIB card does state that I'm on a stamp one. (I never knew that.) And I'm happy to say we're proceeding with the marriage process. (and hopefully the Stamp 4 process after.)
We've scheduled a marriage interview. So, after going through the process of scheduling an interview--I'd like to amend what I said in my first paragraph. I WAs under the impression that when you make a marriage appointment, you have to WAit 3 months for the appointment. But, I see now you ha ...
... 2 children, ages 4 and 8. We would love some guidance on how to find some strong family centered Areas within about a 30 to 45 min commute of his work (flexible on this for the right place), as he might be able to work from home some as well.
If you have any advice as to where we should even start trying to figure out even where to look to move, that would be great! We just decided to consider this a couple days ago. We will ask his work of course too. But value any advice here as well.
Also, how soon in advance must we be looking for schools? Is moving ...
I'm going over to Ireland for the first time in December - I'm staying in Wicklow/Wexford Area. I'm sure there isn't anything I won't like and my next port of call would be to move there!
I just need a guide on what and how really!!
I work in London (could potentially ask if job available in Dublin office) if not I would need to get a new job, do you interview by Skype do you have to fly over etc...? - I'm an Executive assistant so my thought process is to try Dublin City Centre for that?
I live in Essex - and own a flat (mortgaged) - what are people's thoughts on property - ideally I would like a house with some land and stables as I have horses and dogs (well I have 1 of each at the moment but when I move I plan to buy more!!) but to start with my horse could stay in Essex with my friend - I can take my dog, but do you rent first in Ireland and rent flat out at home (this does make me nervous though in case people wreck it!) - then buy once you are more settled in? (6 months I am thinking?)
Any comments or tip or hints! And in particular any Areas that people think would be good and rural for me to check out but not too far from Dublin would be great! Thanks all! 🙂
Yeah, but with houses in the Area I am looking at being around $300,000 and the tax percentages, and the program being for the next several years I could see using it after 2-3 years.
You're referring to the 'help to buy' scheme, right @dorzak ?
There are plenty of new housing developments around the country. There were popping up all over Cork city suburbs where I lived. And most would fall under the 400k cap.
Try this view on myhome.ie
Click on the map view button and then zoom in on an Area to see what's new. The map view is misleading at first until you zoom in, because it only shows hits in Dublin and Cork.
I live in the USA and have several firearms (legal here.) I know I need a certificate from the Garda to have them in Ireland.
Does anyone know of a shipping firm that will transport firearms from the USA to Ireland and deal with the customs process?
Does anyone know of a firearms dealer in Ireland (Limerick Area) that will accept and hold such firearms?
I have not been through the Chunnel but my understanding is border controls are done in Calais by UK border control. UK is not part of the Schengen Agreement, nor is Ireland. It is possible that they could maintain a common movement Area.
The biggest question comes down to what the UK can negotiate and whether or not Brussels will sign off on them or try to punish the UK.
Liam. I am new to forum. I'm not moving back but I need to send about 6-8 large boxes from San Francisco bay Area to West if Ireland. Even port to port would work.
Does anyone in forum have any recommendations and advice. I am getting quotes ranging from 600 to 6000!
Sea shipment is OK but I WAnt a decent ship company who will include all costs on both ends.
Also any idea of customs issues in Dublin? Or tips?
Thanks so much in advance for any help!
John
... home, where our children and grandchildren are, and Ireland, a place we connected with so strongly. I have several questions that I'm hoping someone can help me with.
1. How long can we stay in Ireland during a visit?
2. Can we bring our dogs with us for our longer visits?
3. Do you have any suggestions on getting in touch with and building a working relationship with a realtor?
4. Any suggestions on the best Area to purchase a cottage? We would probably consider renting it to vacationers when we aren't visiting, so we would probably also need info abo ...
Hi Sarah,
I do not know of anyone who has made a trans-atlantic flight with their pet in the cabin of the plane. In fact each time I have flown with my pets, the only option WAs in the cargo Area. This is the norm in the US anyway, and I'm guessing is the same from Canada.
I tried finding more info by looking on Air Canada's website. They say there are country restrictions, but couldn't find what those were. However on another site, there WAs a mention of a number of countries that you cannot fly your pet in the cabin. Ireland WAs not listed, but the UK WA ...
