Were those the standard square pallets or the long rectangular ones? How do you figure the space you used would compare to a 20 foot shipping container? (5.598mx2.325mx2.39m / 19'4"x7"8'x7'10" Interior Dimensions)
@demsee Yes there were. However perhaps they were all registered as ESA's? Perhaps they Aren't allowing animals unless it's through a loop hole like that. If so, then they would have to fly them in the cargo which I believe they said only goes once a week. I haven't checked in with the other airlines recently though to see if they have restarted flying animals. Hopefully as the pandemic winds down, we can get back to things as normal. I think there were a couple other airlines flying animals though in the thick of the pandemic when I came, so hopefully a few more are flying them.
... hit we were still in our home and stayed here. We won't be doing anything but planning until it is safe to travel (and any country will let Americans in.)
We Aren't really interested in seeing the sites. This will be our 6th or 7th trip over which includes Marseille for 16 months (and having our 1st child), Firenze for a year (the most expensive of our life) with our two kids who were 9 & 4 at the time, and a 6 month move to Exeter. Only a short move as our then 13 yr. old son had to get back to his U.S. school to play on the basketball team.

Marriage in the US works for Irish residency stuff. (I married my Irish spouse in Ireland, but I am pretty sure if it's a legal marriage in whatever jurisdiction it works).
They make a big deal of the stamp 4 residency not being automatic, and you do have to prove that you're married, living together and Aren't showing up intending to live off the state.
We're hoping to go back later this year, and I think it will be fine, but I wish I could apply for the residency before we actually pull up stakes and go over...
Hi Rebecca,
Sorry to hear about your situation. I'm sure it is extremely Disappointing and stressful.
Is the change to Stamp 3 in general, or to your particular situation? I can't find anything on the INIS website that describes a change to the process.
Regarding tourist visas, they Aren't intended for long term residence. You can have multiple in any given year, but if you are found to be living in Ireland, and using that as a means to re-enter, you could be in a spot of bother. I'm not sure how severely the rules around this are enforcement, but you would be running that risk.
Just thought of another tip re: US cell phone number.
When I WAs in the US I had T-Mobile with the plan where I can touch down pretty much in any major country around the world and text US numbers for free (i.e. part of my regular bill, doesn't cost me extra) and use unlimited 3G internet. I WAs relying on this when I landed in Dublin since it took me a bit to get a SIM card (my iPhone WAsn't unlocked ugh).
So I WAs delaying cancelling my T-Mobile plan, for my US number, until I had updated all of my online accounts for my new Ireland phone number.

... or immigration advice nor should it be solely relied upon for your own move, it's just a nice starting point for considerations to make if you are someone in a similar situation.
About me: - I had a job lined up before moving to Dublin. My work permit WAs applied for and approved while I WAs in the US. It WAs sponsored by my new employer.- I live a minimalist lifestyle. I Did not need contents relocation (someone shows up, packs your stuff, puts it in a shipping container, and delivers to you in Ireland). I WAs moving via checked/excess luggage and mailing ...
Hi all,
New to the forum so please excuse any faux pas :).
My mom and I are hoping to move to Ireland for a year on June 1. I have a small yorkie who I do not wish to send via air cargo. I can fly into Paris with the appropriate EU Pet Scheme documents.
I've been advised that he can travel within the EU on those documents for up to four months (longer than we can, if our retirement visas Aren't approved!)
Our plan is to then take the Irish Ferry from Cherbourg to Rosslare. Has anyone done this with an American pet?
Would love any experience/input!
... home, where our children and grandchildren are, and Ireland, a place we connected with so strongly. I have several questions that I'm hoping someone can help me with.
1. How long can we stay in Ireland during a visit?
2. Can we bring our dogs with us for our longer visits?
3. Do you have any suggestions on getting in touch with and building a working relationship with a realtor?
4. Any suggestions on the best area to purchase a cottage? We would probably consider renting it to vacationers when we Aren't visiting, so we would probably also need info abo ...
Thank you Liam! Having read through the Employment section here, it sounds like the only WAy for someone without Irish heritage or EU citizenship to move to Ireland is to get sponsored for a job there. And with the current economy I am guessing jobs Aren't plentiful enough to WArrant sponsorship to a non-citizen. And it doesn't sound like there is much opportunity to work remotely for a US company in Ireland, even if you are exiting and returning to Ireland quite frequently. Is that correct?
We have assumed that my husband's career in tech would allow us to ...
