My apologies if this is not the correct place to ask this question, but is ordering from Amazon or Amazon UK (or similar sites) just as simple as putting in your street address upon check out? Do they deliver packages directly to a home, or do you get a notification to pick it up at the Post Office?

They will deliver directly to your home.
Also, Ireland recently adopted a postal code system. Every house in the country has a unique postal code that you can use.

I've used the eircodes in GPS a couple of times and they are great! They took me right to the door both times, but from what I understand they are not widely used.
