To be honest, I am not really sure. We are in a slightly different situation than Rikke. This is the first time I have read about needing to find a job within 3 months as an EU citizen, so either I WAsn't looking hard enough or I just WAsn't paying attention :-/ My husband will be getting EU citizenship through me early next year. Italy allows spouses to have citizenship after 3 years of marriage without fulfilling any type of residency. Prior to this August, he would have received the citizenship on the same application as me, however Now it is a separate ...

Hi, My name is Vanessa and my husband and I are starting the research on wether we can relocate to Ireland from the US. My husband is an fine artist and I am a project manager that would work at my U.S. job remotely in Ireland. We are looking to Open an art gallery that would be a work/living space. I'm looking for any advice on where to begin researching if this is even possible. Thank you! Vanessa Moon

... living there is not quite what they expected. In fact, I remember reading statistics of how many people from Ireland who emigrated and returned, leave again, some time after. It just WAsn't the Ireland they remembered. I'm not trying to deter you. I just hope you research it, and make the move with an Open mind. Best wishes! As another parent of similar aged kids, I will give you a practical 'one thing' that I hope helps, or at least informs. Your kids will most likely have to learn the Irish language in school. This is not a bad thing by any means, h ...

Hi, I am planning to move from the US to Dublin in a little over a year. I understand that my credit history here in the states will not follow me, and that I will have to begin building credit history again as soon as I land there. My question is whether or not anyone knows of WAys that I can start to build credit history Now. For example, I will be in Dublin in the next few weeks and I considered Opening a non-resident bank account with a local bank. Figured maybe just having an active account with them for a year might begin to build rapport. Or it ...

Good morning US folks & good afternoon Irish folks! My wife and I decided that Now is the time to make the move to Ireland. She is an Irish citizen (with dual citizenship, living in the US currently) and we just got done with a 2-month stay in Ireland that WAs absolutely incredible. It gave me the perspective I need to realize that the life we WAnt to live is easiest to do in Ireland and it's frankly not even a close comparison. With not having to pay $800/month in US health insurance costs + the children's allowance + cheaper rent for bigger homes ( ...

Hi all, I live in the UK near the very busy and noisy Heathrow. I have been going to Ireland almost every year since I WAs 14 (for the past 45 years in fact) for the fishing festivals. Circumstances, and wishing to get away to a more quiet lifestyle, means I plan to move over to Ireland over the next couple of years. Looking to find a small holding with bungalow in the Lakeland region. It will be quite an adventure but have to WAit until property is sold here first in the autumn. Thanks for the topics on this site, all very interesting. Going over in May and ...

Hi Barbara, As an Eu citizen, yes he can 'just arrive in Ireland and work like that". He will need proof of EU citizenship of course (German passport?), but can work without restriction. For you, you will need to look in to the Stamp 4 process. It's the immigration route for spouses of Irish/EU citizens. Citizen of certain countries can just arrive, and then apply. Canadians being one of those.I hope this helps. Regarding the kids, public schools are Open to all children who are resident in Ireland. Liam
