... or immigration advice nor should it be solely relied upon for your own move, it's just a nice starting point for considerations to make if you are someone in a similar situation.
About me: - I had a job lined up before moving to Dublin. My work permit WAs applied for and approved while I WAs in the US. It WAs sponsored by my new employer.- I live a minimalist lifestyle. I did not need contents relocation (someone shows up, packs your stuff, puts it in a shipping container, and delivers to you in Ireland). I WAs moving via checked/excess luggage and mailing ...
This is of particular interest to non-EEA immigrants in Ireland who WAnt to visit family outside the EU with their new baby
Hello everyone!
My name is Lily and I am new here. I WAs hoping maybe someone could give me some advice, answers or knowledge that could be helpful. If you would be kind enough to read through my back story, I will appreciate your patience.
I am a South African citizen (grants me access to Ireland with no visa requirement for 90 days) married to a Dutch Citizen, we are both residing in South Africa at the moment.
My husband has a very comfortable job at the moment, as he is positioned remotely, but the company he works for is South African, so he pays So ...
Hi Liam and friends,
I'm hoping to be able to stay in Ireland for at least a month, possibly 6 months or more. I own my own company and work from home so I can bring my job with me. I WAs wondering if anyone knows what kind of visa I should apply for if I'm going to bring my own job and won't be looking for employment in Ireland. I've read if I stay for less than 3 months, I don't need to apply for a visa, but in case I WAnt to stay longer once I'm there, I thought it would be good to get a visa for at least a year before I come over. Not sure how that all ...
@Liam
I Opened the Ulster bank account when I WAs working in Dublin back to 2007. I WAs holding Stamp 1 at that time, and thus I could Open a bank account. I am not sure if they have changed the policy Now.
Actually, INIS just reinstated my GNIB card, they even used my old Stamp 1 photo on my Stamp 0 card!
When I renewed my PSC last year, the officer asked me why not reinstated my status in Ireland as I have everything such as PSC, Irish driver license, Ulster bank account etc. I WAs even a tax payer in the State. That's why I applied for Stamp 0 from ...
@rose
Thanks Rose. Were you able to Open that account from overseas? Lot's of people also have that question. I know BOI offers this Now, but it'd be nice to have options.
Hi Mairead,
I noticed that you wrote this post a while ago, but I'm interested in how you got on, because I'm Now in the same situation. WAs the process smooth for you? Also; how were you able to provide evidence of a joint address? I thought that in order to Open a bank account, you have to be a resident in Ireland. Sorry for so many questions. Would really appreciate any info/experience you've had.

My wife and I have a semi-unique position related to our visa plan. We run our families' company and are looking to Open an Irish branch and then submit our work permits through the company. We have a meeting with an attorney this week and are wondering if anyone has done this process? Are there any specific questions/pitfalls you'd advise we bring up with the attorney. Thanks so much!
... just throw on a jumper and continues to WAlk their dogs or go for a run. Here in Ca they even the slightest mist people think the day is ruined
Liam, how often do you go to America? My husband just pointed out that another reason it would be easier to move to Ireland is more vacation- so more time to visit family (as opposed to me having only 2 weeks a year here). I think childcare everywhere cost a lot, but it seems as if Ireland has more benefits (free daycare, better public school, gp under 6 years) which is something we have to consider since we do pla ...
my head is spinning with this topic too, to a point I almost feel sick. I guess we will never truly know unless we actually give it a go.
I WAs just home for 2 months , currently living in NZ, although I found it nice back home , I WAs not working so it WAs not reality. I've been thinking of going home for a few years Now. I don't feel like NZ is somewhere I will settle down, it's a beautiful country but just lacks that punch of excitement. The outdoors lifestyle is amazing and I have had a great time here. But feels like I'm going against the grain Now. It ...
