Stamp 0 approval from US
I opened the Ulster bank account when I was working in Dublin back to 2007. I was holding Stamp 1 at that time, and thus I could open a bank account. I am not sure if they have changed the policy now.
Actually, INIS just reinstated my GNIB card, they even used my old Stamp 1 photo on my Stamp 0 card!
When I renewed my PSC last year, the officer asked me why not reinstated my status in Ireland as I have everything such as PSC, Irish driver license, Ulster bank account etc. I was even a tax payer in the State. That's why I applied for Stamp 0 from Canada. Otherwise, I would not bother to apply if I have to stay in Ireland to wait for the approval.
Thanks to all for all of the good advice. This forum has really helped make an anxious situation much more manageable. I do have one more question: Everything is proceeding getting the documentation together for the Stamp 0. Even figured out how to get a criminal background check! But one of the requirements is for a "Health Declaration." What in the world is that? Would a letter from our physicians suffice? Thanks again for all the good answers.
I supplied a letter (on letterhead) from my doctor stating that I was in good health and did not have any major health issues.
Just an update on my Stamp 0 application and journey. Once the accountant submitted our paperwork to INIS, I received our approval letters (one for me and another for my wife as we applied separately but submitted them together given our combined health insurance) within 30 days including mailing time from Ireland to the US address.
Just as required by those who applied in Ireland, I will need to send in our passports and provide an Ireland address once I reside in the State. No clear if there is any deadline to get over there and get a real address. We plan to head over to Ireland next month and do some house hunting and check in with INIS on when the one year clock will start.
Congratulations! We're still waiting on our accountant. Apparently it's tax season in Ireland. Quick question, maybe a dumb one, but did your accountant submit directly to INIS? Or did he send you the material that you then included in your packet?
