Hi everyone,
My husband and I will be moving to Ireland in a few weeks. We plan to stay at an Airbnb for a while until we get Set up in Dublin. We have an appointment for INIS registration soon after we arrive. My question is: how can we show evidence of our joint address if we are staying at an Airbnb? Would a letter from the owner of the property stating that we are staying there for a month be enough? Or would we have to find permanent accommodation before attending the appointment?
Any help on this issue would be very much appreciated!
Hi -- I'm Mallory!
I'm planning on moving to Ireland later this year to be with my partner and I'm here to get some guidance on how to move my life over there. We have a home base Set up in Limerick already but I still have a lot of things to figure out on my end (including getting my cat over there.) Hopefully, I can make some great connections here to help make everything go a little more smoothly before and after the move!

Hi Zara,
Sounds like you have it all mapped out 🙂 Are you really going for the very first time though, and planning on moving soon after? What if you don't like it? What's making you WAnt to move when you've never been?
Kildare is great horse country, and close to Dublin. I have no idea how you get Set up with a place for your horse etc though. There's plenty of other options too in close commuting range to Dublin.
Welcome to the site.

Thanks for the WArm welcome Liam !!
Yes I believe I will be apologising for Brexit and being English to every new person I meet in Ireland for a long time...
Regarding banking, it's pretty limited being non-resident so I think either a standing order or cash is probably my best bet. I don't believe KBC have any branches (they call them 'hubs') where I can withdraw cash from a teller, so am restricted to ATMs and no WAy of getting a cashiers cheque.
Does anyone know if landlords typically ask for the deposit and a months rent up front, or is it lets say 20 ...
Hi Giles @manilala and welcome to the site!
Great first question! I don't exactly have personal experience with this, as I rented Directly from a relative, and Did in fact pay cash as a deposit. But it WAs for an amount far less than you mentioned above.
Speaking from knowledge of others who have been in your situation, I can safely say you could run into any mix of requests for a deposit i.e bank transfer, cashiers cheque, cash, etc. The least safe is cash, and if you are asked to go that route, be sure to double check who you are handing money over to, ...
Thanks for the additional responses. I just WAnted to share on here some additional information I've received, in case it's helpful for anyone:
Unit 2 responded back to my question about the requirements and WAs very, very vague. They said up front that this is issued a case-by-case basis, and that there WAsn't a Set savings requirement.
I've been chatting with an accountant who has done visa-related financials before, and he's confirmed from talking with friends of his in the government that internet-related work doesn't fly for income. He also confirmed ...
Alexander,
Those guidelines/rules are Set by the Central Bank of Ireland, so you won't find a bank that won't look for proof of affordability. Sorry to say. It is quite strict.

Hi there,
We are moving back to Ireland in a few weeks after 11 years in the USA. I went to Set up international mail forwarding and realized its not as simple as on the opposite end (Ireland to USA). It seems USPS don't really do this!! Can anyone recommend a good mail forwarding service that doesn't cost an arm and leg?
Thanks!

@fionaz and anyone else having Difficulty with this.
I played around with Daft.ie today searching for rentals that will allow pets. If you go to their 'advanced search' option, you can choose that as one of your criteria in the search. As an example a search in Dublin city, with no other options Set, returned 65 results. Of course, other factors will limit your selection e.g. price, location etc, but at least it's a starting point.
If I WAs the UK government, I would put in a simple reciprocal trade policy with the EU. UK tariffs on EU goods would match those Set by the EU on UK goods. Then if the EU WAnts to follow the German Finance members comments about punishing the UK, they would get to hear from their own businessmen selling products to the UK.
