RE: Permission to Remain in Ireland as the spouse of an Irish National

Hey Niall @niall098 That's the first time in 4+ years of running this forum that I've heard a story like yours. If your marriage is legitimate, and you have everything in Order that they require you to provide, then a 12 month WAiting period sounds nuts! I have never come across a case where a previous marriage WAs an impediment, but maybe that's a technicality somewhere in the fine print. Can you update us as you learn more? Wishing you the very best. Liam

Storage thru Container Shipper -vs- Delivery/unload to a self-arranged Storage Unit
International Shipping

So, I intend to ship my belongings via a FCL in advance of my home renovation being complete, in Order to avoid the timing nightmares and delays that I've read about on this forum. One of the options Schumacher presented WAs long-term storage thru their (un-named) partner in Ireland. The estimate contains a hefty line item for a 10-month alotment of storage fees. It is unclear whether they would store the entire container or unload into a storage unit. My guess is the latter, but I would seek clarification. On the other hand, I have found a self-storage ...

Nick - You have to be able to show you followed the timeline as outlined on the Dept of Agriculture website. Once that is in Order, anything additional doesn't really matter. Would the 2 extra pet visits consist of doing things that must be completed for the move?

Thanks for replying Liam. The notice about the suspension is kind of hard to find. I’ll attach it here. As far as I can see, this affects ministers of religion, and volunteer workers. We used to be able to get a three year stamp. They did this suspension literally a week before we arrived. Really, I’m asking about the re-entry with a landing stamp for 90 days, just so we would be able to come back and get our affairs in Order that we will leave behind, if we are not able to get long term residence.

George - I am going to assume you are Irish? If so, then once you attend in person at a GNIB office, your wife should have her approval soon after if everything is in Order. I suggest reading what others have described here (from Cfin, Mairead, Kate, Kelsey). It should add some clarity to the process.

... he is a UK citisen, it will take longer as Irish Immigration is swamped with UK citizens applying for their Irish citizenship. Since I am an Italian/American the process WAs a lot quicker as there are not many Italians coming to Ireland at the moment. You mentioned that you have been splitting your time between here and the US - I believe you will need to show that you have been in Oreland consistently before your application will be accepted. All in all, after we applied, Joe received his temp Stamp 4 3-4 weeks later - but we had every single document req ...

Personally I wouldn't recommend using a pet relocation service. I just used one because it seemed the airlines required it. I WAs charged $1,995 to move my dog from Dallas to Dublin via Frankfurt. Let me be very clear, aside from booking the flight, Pet Express did literally nothing for me. I got all of the paperwork from the vet, brought my dog for the physical and worming treatment. Drove roundtrip from Dallas to Austin to get paperwork certified by USDA, etc. In addition, I dropped my dog off at the airport and WAs on board his flight. Upon pick ...

Putting US husband on my lease.. Is it necessary?

Hi All, My husband who is a US citizen will be moving to Ireland in the next couple of months to live with me (irish citizen) . In Order for him to register, get a stamp 4 and GNIB card it says that we must have proof of place of residence. I'm wondering if my lease will be sufficient or is it necessary to have his name added to the lease before he even enters the country. Thank you in advance.

Hi Mairead, I noticed that you wrote this post a while ago, but I'm interested in how you got on, because I'm now in the same situation. WAs the process smooth for you? Also; how were you able to provide evidence of a joint address? I thought that in Order to open a bank account, you have to be a resident in Ireland. Sorry for so many questions. Would really appreciate any info/experience you've had. Tara

Hi Melissa, With regard to #2, be sure to have them give you the longest timestamp possible when coming in as a tourist. I know of cases where they'll ask how long you plan to stay and stamp it for exactly that amount of time. If the person before you is staying 2 weeks, you don't WAnt that stamped on your passport. You'll need plenty of time after you do marry to get everything in Order to send for residency status. I hope someone else can chime in on your other questions. I don't have personal experience with it. Liam
