... the UK are cut or absolute minimum so that's a complication on other counts. Your wife is a nurse as is mine but we moved over just in time for the recruitment freeze in the HSE so the 5 new operating suites @ Portiuncula Hospital that should have been a prime employment opportunity for a theatre nurse didn't pan out that WAy. Chris is currently working in a nursery and worked in a national school as an intern last year. There are nursing opportunities but seeking them out before you move might be wise? To work in Ireland you need a PPS number which is a ...

Possibly a question for UK mortgage/loan brokers I'd say Michelle. I'm personally unaware of any, and your question hasn't come up here before.

Hi Dinah, There's good and bad to hiring a removal company. In the case of heavy furniture etc, it's almost a must, IMO. However, this site is for people moving to Ireland, and offering advice specifically for that. You might find one that is geared specifically to UK movers out there too.

RE: Stamp 0 person of independent means questions Lump sum cash requirement for husband and wife

I understand the independent means requirement that each person (my wife and I) must have a passive source of income to the amount of 50K Euros per year. However, I have recently been told that each one of us must have a lump sum of cash equal to the average price of a House in Ireland (250k euros). I had previously been told that we would meet the lump sum requirement if we jointly owned a House worth 250k Euros. does anyone have any experience on this issue? Any advice greatly appreciated as we cannot meet the requirement if we both have to have $250K Euro cash/house availability.

... We have about 1000 cubic feet of belongings, in a 10x15x8' storage unit. I figure we will probably put it into a 20' container not shared. (1360 cu. ft.). I am wondering how much this will cost to ship, door-to-door from our storage unit in Atlanta to our House. I have not begun to collect quotations yet, because I WAnted to hear some real world examples from you all! How much did it cost to ship your stuff from the US, if that is where you came from? I am especially interested in a Total amount for a 20' container. Even if you have a ballpark estimate tha ...

If you think you might ever WAnt to return to live in the US on your own then you should definitely apply for US citizenship as that would be a sure guarantee you could. If you think you would only go back to the US with your spouse then the decision to become a USC is not so clearcut as you have a ticket back into the US by virtue of marriage to a US citizen . Before deciding, you should be aware that living as a US citizen outside of the US can be burdensome and costly in time and or fees, and heaven help you if you fail to file the correct form and the IR ...

Hello all, As I have mentioned in other posts I have WAnted to move to Ireland for a while and been researching it. My wife has come up with two items she will miss from growing up in California. REAL Mexican food (Hint: mixing corn in doesn't make it Mexican food and soft corn tortillas are real tacos) My offset smoker/BBQ For the first she is working on learning to make tortillas from scratch, and pondering how well I could grow jalapeños and other peppers in a small poly Green House/raised bed. There is also a specialty shop in Dublin that does carry ...

@marianne Hi Marianne, I used Jim O'Donovan of Donovan Lavin. He took about 10 days from my first email to provide the documents and charged 492euro (total after VAT). He WAs kind enough to help advise me on whether my short stay visa could be extended until I receive my Stamp 0 visa. I'd recommend him to others!

Pictures and messages dont cut it. You have to be living together for 2 years. I dont know what your bf is doing hopefully a degree. If it is a degree I suggest he gets ready for a masters degree after he finishes if that works it means you have to start living together have joint utility bills maybe a joint account for your bills. Then it might be easy for him to get another year for him masters in Total that would add about to 2 years. Then you eligible to apply for de facto. I think he is able to apply for another year based on him doing his masters. The only option is marriage which you both are not ready for and that would be for the visa which would not be right. Good luck.
