| ... a stamp 4 for my continued residency/permission to work. However, my current job in the US has suggested that it might be possible for me to continue working remotely for them for a little longer after I leave the states. It would not be long-term, but just for another month or so to wrap up my projects, and before I would be able to seek new employment in Ireland, which is my long-term plan. Would this be possible without an employment permit in Ireland (before I get my stamp 4, since I won't be able to get it immediately when I arrive in Ireland), for jus ... | |||||

| ... that I'm hoping you'll be able to help with. I'm a New Zealander and my wife (of one year) has dual Irish/UK citizenship. We're planning on relocating to Ireland in a few months to live and work. As I understand it, the process for me will look like this: Arrive in Ireland with my wife (eg. fly into Dublin) Tell the customs official at the border that I intend to stay as the spouse of an Irish citizen (which means I should get a 90 day visa) As soon as possible, head to a local garda along with my wife (ideally make an appointment in advance)v Bring ... | |||||

| Hi Liam, Another interesting thing to note on our first appointment was we actually nearly got the stamp 4 visa. The lady at the counter wasn't sure how many years to give us so she went away to check but instead a different person came back to tell us that we needed to write a letter to the Justice department. We didn't know what she mean't. We didn't know what to write or why we had to write this letter exactly because we were already following the rules they placed on the INIS website. So anyway my husband and I left and read up more about what she wante ... | |||||

| I have been traveling to Ireland every year for the past 15 years. I am now retired and looking to spend more time in the country I have come to love. I was fortunate in my career and should be in a position to apply for stamp O status. I was thrilled to find this site as the information on the INIS site is not very informative. My first question is, can I apply for stamp O status from the U.S., or do I need to apply upon my next arrival? Secondly, if is approved for stamp O status, what are the limitations or requirements on travel back to the U.S. ... | |||||

| ... My US husband will probably work in Dublin. My daughter and I are already in NI. My husband is planning on joining us soon. Can he fly into Dublin, go to INIS or Grada station upon arrival and get a stamp 4 (or a stamp 1 since his professions is on the needed skills list), but most importantly can we use our NI address to apply for the stamp in ROI? Thanks, Laura | |||||

| Hi Taylor, I've been doing a lot of digging on the INIS site to find answers to this question. They really do bury the details 🙂 What I have found indicates that you can change your status if you get married. I say that with the assumption that you have a stamp 1, is that correct? The part that seems to apply to you from the linked page is the following "If you currently have immigration permission to be in the State (Stamp 1, 2 or 3) and a valid in date GNIB card you may apply to change that immigration permission." Read the rest here Also, I recomme ... | |||||

| ... he is a UK citisen, it will take longer as Irish Immigration is swamped with UK citizens applying for their Irish citizenship. Since I am an Italian/American the process was a lot quicker as there are not many Italians coming to Ireland at the moment. You mentioned that you have been splitting your time between here and the US - I believe you will need to show that you have been in Oreland consistently before your application will be accepted. All in all, after we applied, Joe received his temp stamp 4 3-4 weeks later - but we had every single document req ... | |||||

| ... and am now back in New Zealand. I would like to move back home to Donegal but I fear my Kiwi husband will have a better chance of getting a job in Northern Ireland. My question is: can we get an EU FAM 4 stamp/card rather than a stamp 4? This will mean, to the best of my understanding, that he can work in Northern Ireland, and I could work in Republic. Or is our best bet simply for both of us to move to Northern Ireland as he will have the right to cross the border regularly in that case. As a Donegal native crossing the border is a normal thing for me and ... | |||||

| Hi all, First time poster. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread-I've benefited tremendously from hearing all of your stories. I would love to get a little bit more information on members' experiences with the stamp 4 timeline. Myself (an Irish national) and my soon-to-be spouse (U.S. national) will be relocating from the States to Ireland in July. Am I right in thinking that people have had very varied timelines for stamp 4 work permits being processed? It would be amazing to have a better idea of what kind of processing times we can ... | |||||
