... trying to get a kid into school for the first time age 4/5. There's a ridiculous WAiting list system that most schools have, whereby kids are registered at birth, and by the time they're school age, they may no longer even be living in the area.
Try the links on this page for info
If you click through to individual schools, you'll see some have pretty good parent survey info, as well as some school inspection reports. The data might be a little old in some cases, but it's still useful. Meeting people locally is a good WAy to get looped in. Or there may ...
... live anywhere as our work is freelance type stuff which we could do anywhere (although I need to be able to fly to England about once a month for a few days). So we could basically choose any area to live in, the most important factor is Meeting our son's needs. We do not WAnt to live right in a city.
I have plenty of experience of negotiating the SN education system in England, but am not sure how it all works in Ireland. How easy or feasible would it be to pick a school, move to very near to it, and apply to get into it?

... the only ones in our area who have an immigration desk. We went, and gave them our information. They asked that we have proof of our address, which WAs the only thing besides our passport, proof of insurance with private hospital coverage, and the letter, that they needed. They took all our info and said we had about another month before the the deadline for being fully registered with proof of address. So, we also asked about the whole continuous living thing. We told them we have classes on the weekend every other month or so in different countries, and w ...
... "They" WAnt to. I will be WAtching this carefully since we are still looking at a move, but will plan for that chance that we get asked to leave for whatever reason.
I really feel bad for the people that have moved to Ireland before these changes and are now asked to leave since they don't meet the new requirements, but have lived there, contributed to the communities, and have not become a burden to the state in anyway.

Hey everybody,
In an effort to ensure this site is Meeting your needs, I'd like to ask you a quick question or 2.
I'm looking for ideas for how we can improve the functionality of the site. Any input is valuable, so please comment below if you have some ideas.

One idea I've been toying with is adding capability for you to upload pictures and/or video clips. Before I dig too deep in to this idea, maybe you could answer the following:
Q. Would you be interested in sharing pictures from your move on this site? e.g. something to do with moving logistics, and/or something you'd like to share from your new life in Ireland.

We married in Denmark last week. Have our apostille marriage cert.
From what I've read, we just need to go to GNIB with passports, certs and proof of address?
Will she be granted stay with work permit from this Meeting or do we have to go through an application and potentially see her lose her job post contract expiration or is it that as simple as above?
Feeling slightly anxious about it. Advice appreciated. thanks.

... notice. I'm Canadian and he's Irish- he lives in ROI and I'm currently on a UK visa living in N.I (expiring in a couple weeks).
1. As I am not currently living in ROI, it appears we need to request to give our notice via post. This is fine, however I'm now concerned about these interviews as I had read somewhere (presumably on the official citizens information site- I should probably have that memorised by now!) that if notice is given by post, because one of the parties is not living in Ireland the 3 months prior to the marriage, that the couple must att ...
Hi,
I am Svenja, from Germany, currently in a LDR with my boyfriend from County Cork. We have plans to get married next year in autumn. I will finish my third-level education here in Germany (work experience and vocational school at the same time for 3 years) in a pretty specialized field. The end of this year/ beginning of next year I plan to move to Ireland. I'd need help finding a job, a place to live, finding out how the country works (laws, insurances, ANYTHING). I have to say that I have visited Ireland for 7 years now on a regular basis of once or twice a year, even before Meeting my soon-to-be fiancee. Also, he is pretty young, so he doesn't have a high income. I'd like to know if we can count on any governmental support to pay rent or anything. Any help is welcome!
... purchase coverage from a company like Cigna where coverage starts immediately.
Cigna will sell me a policy. I don't need to be living in Ireland yet, in fact it will cover me everywhere in the world except the US. Which WAs good to hear if one plans to travel while living in Ireland. The quotes are good for 45 days, but since the certificate needs to be submitted with the Leave to Remain application, that means that the insurance needs to be purchased while WAiting for a decision on the Leave to Remain, which can take from 2 weeks to 90 days. We may enter ...
