... to provide us a contract and quote within 24 hours of our conversation, neither of which ever came. We never heard from him again. We could have contacted the company again, but decided against it. The amount we WAnted to ship WAs miniscule and WAs not worth the hassle, so we ended up just checking extra baggage on our flight. We also shipped some packages through USPS in their international flat rate boxes, which we will never do again!! The boxes came and were practically falling apart. The Irish post had retaped them to keep the contents from falling ou ...

@aingeala20 Thank you for your response. The link to the service that you used for moving WAs removed. Would you please resend it? I finally made it to Dublin with cat #1. Dual Citizen-live in IRE, continue to work remotely for US employer

I am a dual Irish/US citizen. I have lived/worked in the US for most of my career. I attempted to move to IRE right before the pandemic (so own property, vehicle, have Irish driver's license and PPS #), returned to US and got caught in pandemic lockdowns. Took job in US while stuck here, but now would like to finalize becoming full time resident in Ireland. However, I like my US employer and they are willing to continue employing me remotely from Ireland. How might that work? I understand there are treaties between the two countries to avoid double taxation and to pay social security benefits once eligible for it. Curious how the practicalities would work - ie: would my pay continue to go to my US bank account, be transferred to IRE bank account, then I would somehow report/pay taxes to IRE? Do I need to Set up as a "self-employed" business in IRE? Are there businesses in IRE that I would need to work for who act as a middleman for tax purposes? Thanks in advance for advice from anyone who have had experience with this situation.

@laneiger Thanks, Lori. I WAs just concerned with any possible delays (due to Covid and previous lockdowns/restrictions) in getting the initial Stamp 0 approval. Sounds like you're response time from the INIS WAs less than 90 days but that WAs in 2019, so not sure what the timing is now post-Covid??? I suspect that timelines and timing with Gov't processes may be an unknown for now. As a result, my initial thought WAs to apply this summer with an anticipated move to Ireland in late Oct. I'll be selling my house here in U.S., so that is going to take some t ...

@aingeala20 Thanks for responding. Good to hear you are adjusting to being home. I too plan to move to Kerry, it's a small world. Thanks for the advice on bringing more stuff home with me- it has been on my mind! I have now engaged a financial planner over here to see how I can be optimally Set up when I get to Ireland. I will plan to work there too before I retire as I am still too young to retire. Sounds like you had been in CA for over two decades, same here. Wishing you luck with the driver's test and with the ongoing adjustment to being home. It sure is a big decision! Regards.

Hello Everyone! I am new to the group and so happy to have found such a wonderful resource. I think there is so much power is sharing knowledge so I hope I can find some answers (or at very least) insight into my questions. Here is a little background: My husband and I have been WAnting to make the move to Ireland for many years now and have exhausted so many different options. We have 2 children and are currently in Canada. My husband and I both work from home and can basically live anywhere. We are thinking now a Stamp 0 may be the easiest WAy and allow ...

... site ( removed link ) This website WAlks you through everything you need to do, but basically your pet needs to be microchipped, receive a rabies vaccination post-microchipped and at least three months prior to arrival, needs a signed and certified EU health certificate no more than 10 days prior to arrival, and finally a tapeworm vaccination no more than five days prior to arrival. Upon arrival, you will meet with an official at a time previously Set up by the Dept. of Agriculture who will deem whether your papers meet compliance paperwork. Of course, ...

... and your suggestion of Mairead and Steve's posts. I already feel so grateful for what I've been able to find on this site! My fiancé, Neil, lives in Dublin now but is from Dungarvan, and we've been wondering the same thing about whether it would be better to register outside of Dublin if we can.... if anyone else has any insight into this, I'd love to hear it! @deleteduser Amanda, I'm so glad to hear everything went well for you and you were able to move and get married! Your response WAs definitely helpful. It's great to know about the PPS number takin ...

@megmegu Hi Meg and family. Great to have you here 🙂 There's a Lucan in Dublin also. Maybe an option 🙂 Just an FYI for now, as I'm sure we'll converse more as time passes, but there are plenty of other great universities in Ireland outside Dublin. Cork, Limerick, Galway all have good options. It's cool you've given yourself so much time to plan. Do you hope to get over to visit a couple of times between now and then to scout out options? I'm sure schools too will have a bearing on where you end up. The irish school system is great, so your daughter will be well Set. Looking forward to hearing more from you and Shannon as things take shape.

Hello, I am Liz and I am interested in learning more about remote working in Ireland. I have a particular skill Set that allows me to consult and do Skilled contract work. Interestingly, the fields/roles that I work in are also referenced 4 times in the “skilled workers” list. Has anyone on the forum moved to Ireland under similar circumstances? Did you go through the skilled worker interview process or were you able to show gainful self employment? thank you in advance!
