@kevin Thank you, Kevin. This is very helpful. I have been quiet for a few weeks because, following receipt of my Stamp 0 acceptance letter, I made a quick trip to Dublin to put things into Order.
I have requested the PPSN and reached out to VHI for a quote. My understanding is that I need to have a residential address in place before VHI will proceed with a private health policy. (I now have a property under contract.) In my discussions with Medicare, I learned that I can keep Part A, release Part B, keep Part D (prescriptions) as long as I have either Part A or Part B, and release my supplemental plan. I had a discussion with a firm that provides health insurance plans for people who are truly multinational; the premiums run $4600+ per year. If we are only traveling to the US to visit, not to spend part of the year in US and part in IE, travelers insurance should provide basic coverage should there be a need. At least this is what I have been told.
All the comments and suggestions on this discussion thread are very, very helpful. THANK YOU - everyone - for posting from your experience.
Kind regards
Pat
... City of Minneapolis Police Dept, State of MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and the FBI. Requests for the FBI and MN BCA required submitting electronic fingerprinting. So, I submitted all three reports that indicated that I had no criminal history or outstanding WArrants, etc. with the Stamp 0 documents.
For health declaration, I had my annual physical and asked my Dr. to write a letter indicating that I WAs healthy, had no underlying conditions and I had completed my Covid vaccinations.

Good point about the PPS, Lori! And good luck with your Theory Test!
There’s a bit of a catch-22 in getting your PPS in Order to get your driver license. When I went to get my PPS for my driver application I WAs told that I needed my license, but you need a PPS to get your driver license. Fortunately, the person at NDLS produced a “rejected” note stating that a PPS WAs needed. PPS person WAs then happy and proceeded with the PPS application. The PPS office and NDLS are only about 2 miles apart in Tralee, Co. Kerry, so it WAs easy enough to complete ...

Hi, I WAnted to post an update on the recent application for stamp 0 for my mother.
Mom is from a visa required country, which means she had to apply from outside Ireland. We got her financial documents verified by Quintas accountants (in cork) and paid 450 plus vat. The turnaround time from quintas WAs one week from when she sent in her statements and they were extremely prompt and informative in their replies to all of her email queries. They know what they are doing and we strongly recommend them.
The application WAs received by INIS in Dublin on Octobe ...

My fiancé, Neil, lives in Dublin now but is from Dungarvan, and we've been wondering the same thing about whether it would be better to register outside of Dublin if we can.... if anyone else has any insight into this, I'd love to hear it!
@deleteduser Amanda, I'm so glad to hear everything went well for you and you were able to move and get married! Your response WAs definitely helpful. It's great to know about the PPS number takin ...
... living in Dublin. We have been together for four years, visiting each other back and forth every few months. I think our longest stay together WAs about three months, when he lived with me in Chicago over a summer. We got engaged about a year ago, but our moving plans have been all over the place because of COVID-19. Now, I'm planning to move to Ireland, and we are ready to begin that process ASAP. We've done a lot of research over the past year, but it's so hard to figure things out for sure from the info online, and it would be so great to hear personal e ...
Liam -
I thought I'd provide a copy of an email I received today about since it reflects the possible cost for assistance with preparing/confirming financial information for the Stamp 0 application. I know Quintas has been mentioned in previous posts, but thought I'd provide their reply since it's current, especially the fees and contact information.
I do have another request for service information and fees out to James O'Donovan of O’Donovan Lavin Accountants and will post any information that he provides.
I hope the following is helpful.
Thank you!
My name is Adam McCarthy and I work in the Quintas tax department with Dave O’Brien. In Order to prepare a financial verification pack we require the following documentation:
Evidence of all finances available (i.e. last six months of bank statements, savings account statements, payslips, pension valuation, investment portfolios etc.) – This is to prove that you earn more than €50,000 per annum. Scanned copies of these will suffice.
Evidence that you have access to a large sum of money to cover any major unforeseen expenses (typically the cost of a dwelling in the state) – This can be in the form of a property valuation or an investment that can be easily liquidated (if it is an investment then we will need confirmation that you have immediate access to the funds)
Spreadsheet showing projected income in Ireland and expenditure on a monthly basis
2 photo ID and 2 documents showing proof of address (e.g. utility bill) notarized by a local official – the reason I need this is that we probably won’t meet in person
If you are unsure about whether a particular source of income or funds is allowable just send us the documents and we can verify if it will qualify.
The standard fee for this is €500 and can be broken down as follows:
Request of information - €50
Review of documentation - €150
Review of Stamp 0 conditions to ensure qualification - €100
Letter of verification of income & finances available - €200
If however the work required is more extensive, then our fee will reflect this.
As you intend on moving to Ireland next year the financial verification would need to take place around the time you intend to apply for the Stamp 0 cert so there is no need rush with this process at present.
Should you have any questions in relation to any of the above please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Adam

Hi Liam and other nomads,
Some notes and then some questions about UpackWeShip—would love to know if others think there is a better deal out there.
We are looking to move back in April to Ireland from WAshington DC. And after looking at this site, are leaning towards UpackWeShip. We got on their website and then called them. Learned some interesting things.
1. They offer three sizes of shipment, pallet, U crate and container. Its all clear on the site, but what’s not clear is that you should pack up with your own materials (from WAlmart or onlin ...
@pam
I originally applied in 2019 and received approval in late October 2019. We were getting our affairs in Order (eg sell the house) then COVID hit and we put it off. In August I recontacted Unit 2 at INIS and they said I needed to reapply Same requirements, but I could just send them by email to Unit 2. Much easier. Not sure that is an option for the first time. Hope this helps
