Given the wealth of Info we have on this topic here, I figured it'd be a good idea to capture all costs associated with Stamp 0 in one thread.
Archer WAs looking for Info on this topic on another thread, which is what got me thinking to start this one.
At present there is no application fee as such. You compile the list of required docs, and send them off with a cover letter to the appropriate mailing address.
The main fee that people are incurring is the cost of retaining an accountancy service. The INIS insists that your financial eligibility ...
... trying to get a kid into school for the first time age 4/5. There's a ridiculous WAiting list system that most schools have, whereby kids are registered at birth, and by the time they're school age, they may no longer even be living in the area.
Try the links on this page for Info
If you click through to individual schools, you'll see some have pretty good parent survey Info, as well as some school inspection reports. The data might be a little old in some cases, but it's still useful. Meeting people locally is a good WAy to get looped in. Or there may ...
... been in Colorado USA for the past three+ decades. We are both disturbed by the current political and cultural climate in the states. I have always had a deep desire to live by the sea (Colorado has many fine qualities-- but no sea!). We're looking at a possible move to Ireland as a WAy to address both these things.I'm particularly looking at a move to Northern Ireland in the Bangor/ Donaghadee area. Why? My criteria for an "ideal locale" are #1) by the sea! ideally I can see it from my house. Or at least be within a minute or two WAlk. #2) a town that is s ...
My husband and I are planning to move back to Ireland, around Sligo. He is Irish, I am a US citizen. I would like to keep my job, as I work remote from home anyway.
Should I ask my company to register as PAYE in Ireland, or should I become a contractor for my company?
What are the paperwork and pre-payment requirements for the US if I am a contractor in a foreign company working for a US company?
If my company is to register for PAYE, and I would be considered a "normal" employee, how would they go about that?
Many thanks for any Info you can give.

... due to our student visa, we would need to enroll the kids in private primary schools. Not only 40,000 euro more than we'd planned on while here, but also a task to locate a school with available spaces. It WAs a disaster. Know the ins and outs of your visa and know what to bring along to INIS to obtain your GNIB card (the GNIB process is a special something).

This is such a helpful thread, WAs wondering if I could chime in on a similar situation.
I'm a dual French/US Citizen (with dual passports) and my fiancé is a US Citizen in the middle of getting his Polish citizenship and passport (we're based in Los Angeles and both come from jewish families with the right of return). We'd love to move to Ireland in the next year or so, after his paperwork is finalized.
He currently works remotely for a small US-based company. I'm curious about which direction to look into for his worker status/tax Info, as we shouldn't ...
Hi Sarah,
First off, welcome, it's great to have you here.
Can you share where you read that Info? I'm not sure it is accurate. Maybe you read Info about De Facto partners? There is a number of years requirement on those.
But yes, your husband would need to apply for residency in Ireland. It is not automatic even if you are an Irish citizen. From what you say, he would most likely go the Stamp 4 route. You most likely can move as soon as you have Irish citizenship, but your husband would not be able to work until the application got approved.
I recommend reading @mairead 's posts. Her husband Steve went through a similar journey. You can find their advice here
Looking forward to hearing more from you as the move takes shape.

... the only ones in our area who have an immigration desk. We went, and gave them our Information. They asked that we have proof of our address, which WAs the only thing besides our passport, proof of insurance with private hospital coverage, and the letter, that they needed. They took all our Info and said we had about another month before the the deadline for being fully registered with proof of address. So, we also asked about the whole continuous living thing. We told them we have classes on the weekend every other month or so in different countries, and w ...
