Most Verizon phones that Support LTE have the SIM slot unlocked for GSM. Which means you should be able to use them internationally without issue by popping in a SIM. It WAs a requirement imposed in the recent bandwidth auctions.
Sprint will unlock dual mode phones for international use of a SIM card.
Most T-Mobile US phones sold since they started the Uncarrier promotions are unlocked.
If you have completed your contract period with AT&T they will often unlock your phone.
An unlocked US phone should work for at least 3G access with a SIM card ...
If you buy from a US seller who doesn't collect VAT you need to pay VAT when it comes through Customs. More devices Support it than usually list it as a feature. Dig out the manual (or look it up online) for your existing electronics. Most laptops you can buy either a new cable that goes from the WAll to the transformer. Some you have to replace that transformer.
@kpmccahill Sure thing Kevin. This WAs a good while back, but I'm sure the same is still doable.
I WAs a Full time employee for a company in the US at the time. They WAnted me to continue working after I moved back to Ireland, and do so remotely. They did not have an office in Ireland then, so had me go through a temp agency in the US. I can't remember which one now, but something like Kelly Services, Manpower, etc. That agency had offices in Ireland too. I WAs paid from the Irish office, who then billed their US counterpart to true everything up.
I hope t ...
Hi Ronnie,
Im also South African, as of course is my family, but we will be traveling there with me on my Irish passport, husband and 2 kids on South African passports.
What i WAnted to ask is, did your wife ever live and work in Ireland before you moved there? And when you went to register did you automatically get your stamp 4 that day that allowed you to work or did she have to show that she could Support you?
What about private medical insurance and all that?
We will also be traveling there with two minor children. Do they have to be registered too ...
Hi,
I am Svenja, from Germany, currently in a LDR with my boyfriend from County Cork. We have plans to get married next year in autumn. I will finish my third-level education here in Germany (work experience and vocational school at the same time for 3 years) in a pretty specialized field. The end of this year/ beginning of next year I plan to move to Ireland. I'd need help finding a job, a place to live, finding out how the country works (laws, insurances, ANYTHING). I have to say that I have visited Ireland for 7 years now on a regular basis of once or twice a year, even before meeting my soon-to-be fiancee. Also, he is pretty young, so he doesn't have a high income. I'd like to know if we can count on any governmental Support to pay rent or anything. Any help is welcome!
... is my question.....
My fiancé is Tanzanian, I am Irish. We met and lived over there for a couple of years and now I have come home. We are getting married in July and having another wedding bash here in August. He's been here twice before and we always apply for a short term visiting friends and family visa which he gets. We need to apply for his visa now again and as he's not my spouse yet we will have to apply for that short term one again. We WAnt to live in Ireland and I have recently taken up employment here. When we come in August, we'll be arriving ...
... I assume we won’t be issued an MRF straight away, if so there would be no point in having the meeting as this MRF would expire within the 6 months. So will they issue it to us at a later date closer to our marriage date or should I postpone this meeting? - This is tricky. I don't actually know the concrete answer to this. Here's my situation: We have the "notice" in person on July 4. We had this "interview" on Monday that made sure we were "legitimate" on Sept 12. We have to WAit two weeks to get "approved," and then we pick a date. She just said if we did ...
Welcome John and Paige. I submitted only a Full copy of my passport, and no request came for the actual passport. I received a letter yesterday from INIS confirming receipt of my packet.
That said, Molly may share her experience with obtaining the actual stamp. For this I understand your passport will be required as this is where they will put the stamp. I intend to go to Limerick or Cork Garda Station should I be granted approval.
Good luck!
Take it on the plane as baggage, pay the oversize/overweight charges. Is it a Full size concert harp? They do have maximum sizes, so you might research your particular carrier or give them a call. If you are within their pretty generous limits then it's just a $100-200 surcharge on your baggage, and I'd bet any shipping company would be a lot more than that.I travel with a bass player frequently so I've had experience with this. Sometimes you even get lucky and get a music enthusiast at the airline check-in desk that will give you a pass on the extra charges. So be nice to them 😉
Did you find it much cheaper to hire movers in conjunction with the u pack we ship service? We have received 2 quotes for a 20ft container. U pack we ship says just under $5k for that, the Full service ones are closer to $8k. I guess it seems likely that we could hire movers for less than 3,000, but considering the ease of one company doing everything...
