Kate - thanks! I think this is so important to know for people moving to Ireland. The Catholic WAy of life that WAs so deeply ingrained in Irish culture for so long still has a hold over the school system. Like it or not, it's a reality, and good to know in advance. It's probably also good to know that you can't just check the 'Catholic' box to pass through. On the application forms I've seen they require proof in the form of a baptismal cert, which if you do have, you should have Ready to show.

Oh I see. I didn't realize that it meant you had to go in person. I wonder could you a pay a personal assistant service to go do it in advance. If you WAnt the stuff immediately that is. If you had a list Ready, maybe that wouldn't be too costly. You'd still have the issue of getting them the money to pay for the stuff though. I am a dual Irish/US citizen. I have lived/worked in the US for most of my career. I attempted to move to IRE right before the pandemic (so own property, vehicle, have Irish driver's license and PPS #), returned to US and got caught in pandemic lockdowns. Took job in US while stuck here, but now would like to finalize becoming full time resident in Ireland. However, I like my US employer and they are willing to continue employing me remotely from Ireland. How might that work? I understand there are treaties between the two countries to avoid double taxation and to pay social security benefits once eligible for it. Curious how the practicalities would work - ie: would my pay continue to go to my US bank account, be transferred to IRE bank account, then I would somehow report/pay taxes to IRE? Do I need to Set up as a "self-employed" business in IRE? Are there businesses in IRE that I would need to work for who act as a middleman for tax purposes? Thanks in advance for advice from anyone who have had experience with this situation.

@laneiger Thanks, Lori. I WAs just concerned with any possible delays (due to Covid and previous lockdowns/restrictions) in getting the initial Stamp 0 approval. Sounds like you're response time from the INIS WAs less than 90 days but that WAs in 2019, so not sure what the timing is now post-Covid??? I suspect that timelines and timing with Gov't processes may be an unknown for now. As a result, my initial thought WAs to apply this summer with an anticipated move to Ireland in late Oct.
