Since Rose WAs successful gaining approval of her financials without an Irish accountant certification, we tried to copy her approach since our pension income statements have a similar government certification. Didn’t work....guessing it just depends on which reviewer you get. But the good news is that the accountant certification is the only outstanding item.
In terms of our police report, we had requested the County Sheriff run a background check. The State Police required fingerprints and it just seemed like a lot of work. My suggestion just l ...
@kristininseattle, Kristin, thanks so much for adding to this topic with that useful Info and link. Would love to hear back from you here after the big move to see how home schooling works out for you.
Hello All
This forum has been beyond helpful cannot thank you all enough for your useful Information! So glad I stumbled upon it somehow.
Anyway I'm an Irish citizen and my wife is a US citizen and will be moving to Ireland soon! Flying in with her! What I WAnted to ask WAs can anyone let me know exactly what they ask for when you arrive at the airport and head through Irish customs? Like what paperwork, if for proof of funds, photos etc. I know you're supposed to let them know the intention of WAnting to stay and receive the stamp 4 so any Info wou ...
So, after reading various articles and the new rules regarding the reduction in required driving lessons (6 vs 12, with the possible caveat for insurance discounts after 12 lessons), I'm still unclear on one thing.
Will you be asked to hand over your U.S. Driving Licence when applying for the Learner's Permit? Can you get away with driving without a 'licenced companion' as long as you still have your U.S. licence and are still within the 12-month visitation period?
About the clearest Info I've seen on this is that it is a "grey area", but it would be nearly impossible if you have to hand over your foreign driving licence.
Is there anyone with recent experience that can comment on the process?
Thanks!-Mike
... that I'm hoping you'll be able to help with.
I'm a New Zealander and my wife (of one year) has dual Irish/UK citizenship. We're planning on relocating to Ireland in a few months to live and work.
As I understand it, the process for me will look like this:
Arrive in Ireland with my wife (eg. fly into Dublin)
Tell the customs official at the border that I intend to stay as the spouse of an Irish citizen (which means I should get a 90 day visa)
As soon as possible, head to a local garda along with my wife (ideally make an appointment in advance)v
Bring ...
Thanks for the WArm welcome Liam !!
Yes I believe I will be apologising for Brexit and being English to every new person I meet in Ireland for a long time...
Regarding banking, it's pretty limited being non-resident so I think either a standing order or cash is probably my best bet. I don't believe KBC have any branches (they call them 'hubs') where I can withdraw cash from a teller, so am restricted to ATMs and no WAy of getting a cashiers cheque.
Does anyone know if landlords typically ask for the deposit and a months rent up front, or is it lets say 20 ...
Hi Giles @manilala and welcome to the site!
Great first question! I don't exactly have personal experience with this, as I rented directly from a relative, and did in fact pay cash as a deposit. But it WAs for an amount far less than you mentioned above.
Speaking from knowledge of others who have been in your situation, I can safely say you could run into any mix of requests for a deposit i.e bank transfer, cashiers cheque, cash, etc. The least safe is cash, and if you are asked to go that route, be sure to double check who you are handing money over to, ...
... as open as a lot of other EU countries. For instance, airlines cannot allow pets in the cabin on flights coming in; they have to be in crates in the hold. There's very specific paperwork and timing that must be followed. Most of the advice I've seen has been to use a professional pet shipper. The cost is not inconsiderable, you'd best budget at least $1000. For a short term like 3 months, you may be better off looking for a temporary foster home. (I know! NOT what you WAnt to hear. You WAnt to take the family along) You could also look into a workaround lik ...
Tanya,
I've searched for official Info on this numerous times. I don't think it's public, any maybe there isn't even an official limit. From what I understand, each entry is judged case by case by the immigration person at the entry point. They typically ask length of stay, purpose of visit, etc. If a passport shows numerous entries backed up against each other, maybe they will dig deeper into what a person is doing during their visits.
This is one of those types of questions where I like to remind people that this site, and everything you read on here, is not an official/legal source. Just a forum where people help each other out with common questions 🙂
If you find anything, please let us know.
... my Irish passport, you'll have a Canadian one I assume.
Your child is an Irish citizen automatically since birth. Assuming your husband WAs. Here's the Info on that
At a minimum your child should be able to enter on a tourist visa. If there are questions though, then an explanation of the situation should clear things up pretty easily.
