Hey guys! We're planning to move to Dublin in a few months and I WAnt to know how should I choose the neighbourhood & the elementary school for my 8-years-old son. In the UK, a kid has priority for a seat if he's living in the school neighbourhood. Is it the same in Ireland? I'm not sure how to choose the school & the area to find an Apartment.

I'm Peter, and I have just been accepted as a MSc student at NUI, Galway! I'm very excited to complete my education and liver overseas for the first time! However, a bit of reality is setting in as I look into the realities and logistics of the move. By WAy of background, I'm a community college instructor and lab technician, in the specialized field of microscopy and biological imaging. I love what I do, but am a bit underemployed due to my lack of an advanced degree. It has been my plan for the last few years to put my house on the market, pay off my debt ...

... difficult. I have no bank statements. I WAnt to open a bank account in Ireland badly, but they also WAnt proof of address. I've been in contact and they've told me they will not accept a statement from the family I live with (Even though when I messaged the immigration bureau, and they suggested trying that.) I have no rental agreements, utility bills, and I'm not part of an au pair agency. All I have to go on right now is this: The immigration bureau sent me an e-mail stating that they have my irish address on record attached to my GNIB. (So, I wonder i ...

... as proof of address. So the employer letter should get you a PPS number (worked for me and my flatmate), then the Welfare office will mail you a letter with your PPS number on it and voila, you have official government correspondence with your address on it. The GNIB website says something about visiting other offices so I think that is possible. Should just check the website before booking! My boxes were here in a flash. I hadn't even moved into my permanent Apartment when they arrived. My friend from Singapore has been WAiting for her shipment of stuff ...

... employment or not. Slightly different rules if you are shipping a car, and are applying for VRT relief. More info on that here. The shipping company may be able to hold them in Ireland for you until you have an address figured out. However, if you WAit until you arrive and get setup with an Apartment, then your things may not arrive for another 4-6 months. I recommend shipping them ahead of time if possible. I hope this helps. Welcome to the site 🙂 Liam

Hi - I'm planning to move from New York to Dublin in January and have a few questions: - will I need to have paperwork with my shipment that show proof of residency and/or employment? (I will be flying there when my shipment leaves so will have Apartment ready by the time the vessel arrives and then I can advise of the address to deliver to; and my job may not be finalised by then either - will that be ok as I'm British and can legally move to Ireland without these things, or will it be an issue for my belongings coming from the US?) - any recommendations for relocation companies from people who've taken this NYC to Dublin route? Many thanks

... the agency just to be sure: livetrade@agriculture.gov.ie I personally am using a pet relocation service because as I moved to Dublin solo I have enough on my plate that I needed someone who does this professionally to take care of all the details and make sure I didn't make a mistake. I didn't WAnt me pets sent back on a plane because of a mistake of mine. Others have said it's easy to do on your own but you have to have very fine attention to detail and triple check your information (internet can be tricky you know). I am using a company called Pet ...

... Things that "keep me up at night" which I will be searching the forum for discussions of (if anyone WAnts to link me to good threads feel free!): - I've been looking for studios or roommates on rent.ie and daft.ie but won't really be able to get to much into it until I arrive. I am having my two cats flown out to me (using a pet relocator) after I've secured an Apartment. Wondering how much trouble I will have finding pet friendly Apartments? Lots of these website don't even have a search filter for "pet friendly". - Airlines - I'm a big fan of accumula ...

Hey Kelsey So I am currently engaged to an Irish citizen and I am American. We move back and forth a lot just so that we can be together. When we stay in America we have an Apartment and while being in Ireland I have stayed with his family. I read all the questions you were asked and would be able to answer and he would as well. But we are trying to figure out more on this. Where do I go to apply for this? And how many times did you guys travel back and forth to see eachother? Just trying to figure out what they might be looking for? Im just tired of spending so much on airline tickets and marriage has already been discussed and we are ready to get to it. We are younger as he is only 22 and I am 20 so I hope that age would not be a HUGE bad factor in this. What do you think? I just need some advice and help and I see you have gone through my situation so I am reaching out to you. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
