... to provide us a contract and quote within 24 hours of our conversation, neither of which ever came. We never heard from him again. We could have contacted the company again, but decided against it. The amount we WAnted to ship WAs miniscule and WAs not worth the hassle, so we ended up just checking extra baggage on our flight. We also shipped some packages through USPS in their international flat rate boxes, which we will never do again!! The boxes came and were practically falling apart. The Irish post had retaped them to keep the contents from falling ou ...

@laneiger Thanks, Lori. I WAs just concerned with any possible delays (due to Covid and previous lockdowns/restrictions) in getting the initial Stamp 0 approval. Sounds like you're response time from the INIS WAs less than 90 days but that WAs in 2019, so not sure what the timing is now post-Covid??? I suspect that timelines and timing with Gov't processes may be an unknown for now. As a result, my initial thought WAs to apply this summer with an anticipated move to Ireland in late Oct. I'll be selling my House here in U.S., so that is going to take some t ...

Hi Liam: my partner and I are Set on moving to Ireland (Rosguill Peninsula) early 2018. We are both US citizens. Probably going to buy a House and live there at least a year, then decide from there. Neither of us will work, so no need for employment-related visas, and banking / money issues seem moot since everything's over the internet/via credit cards these days and I have several credit cards with no foreign transaction fees. On the subject of a visa: our plan is simply to come into the Republic on 3 month tourist visas, and leave/reenter the Republic every 11 weeks or so, essentially restarting the tourist visa. Unless I miss my guess, this should be as easy as flying back to the States for a week or so, the returning to Ireland. Once the UK completes Brexit, it will be even easier; simply drive to Belfast. Seems too easy, in fact, but I can't find anything in my research that indicates it's not doable. Thoughts?

Hi All, I've lived in the US for 26 years. My family and I are moving back to Ireland sometime in September 2017. House is under contract "Sold", We'll miss it. Getting a 40ft container, A 20 footer wouldn't do it. $1,000 more by the WAy. I applied for my US Citizenship in December of 2016. I got my interview notice for the end of August 2017. I've seen questions about getting US citizenship before moving back. What are the Pro's and Con's? Should or shouldn't I will the timing work out for me anyway.? Starting to write my resignation letter for the Co ...

Hey Megan - there are no stupid questions 🙂 When I first moved to the US, I don't know how many times I got crisps instead of chips, I didn't know what a burrito WAs, and I WAs told where to find an electric train when I asked where the trolleys were in a supermarket. There are plenty of hurdles to jump along the WAy to assimilation, especially in Ireland! Door-to-door trick or treating is very much the norm in Ireland. Has been for a very long time. Last year WAs my first year as a parent in Ireland, and it WAs nice to see that the American WAy of throwing ...

Hi, with regards to renewing the stamp zero, does one have to submit yearly finances verified by an Irish CA every time one WAnts to renew the visa at the end of the one year period? Also, is the renewal done at the local garda station of the Town you live in or does it go to the office of the minister of justice? Thanks

Hello! My name is Meg. Myself, my husband Shannon and our daughter Keira, will be moving to Ireland in the summer of 2023 (yes - a very long WAy off). We like to plan out details well in advance. We are Canadian and live in Lucan, Ontario (a very small Town). A little bit about us. I lived in Ireland in 2007 to 2008 with the SWAP program. I started out in Galway for 2 months before moving to Tallaght, just outside of Dublin before returning home. My husband, Shannon, is a dual citizen. His father WAs Irish and born in Dublin. He has never visited the ...

Short term car lease?

Hi all, I'm expecting to be in Ireland for about 3 months and I do WAnt the flexibility of being able to drive around, even if I am located in a city or Town. Does anyone know of a dealership or company that does a short-term car lease? I looked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car and they WAnted over €700 per month. I WAs hoping to find something cheaper. Unfortunately, the places I'm looking at living don't have a Go-Car service nearby. Any ideas?

My husband got his Stamp 4 stamp in his passport on the first visit to the Garda station (Wicklow Town). They rang a couple of weeks later to come collect the card, but no more stamping needed. That WAs nearly two years ago; maybe the procedure has changed.

This is Steve here, Mairead's husband. I have now been in Ireland about a year and a half. The renewal of the Residency status WAs about as easy as it WAs getting the Stamp 4 in the first place, except this time it WAs at the Dundalk Garda station, which is very big and busy, rather than the small and relatively quiet one in Wicklow Town. So it WAs difficult getting an appointment with the immigration officer at the station. There WAs a snafu, where the appointment time WAs not recorded and conveyed to the right person. But after 3 visits and some WAiting in ...
